With the several occasions ive gotten the warranty from bestbuy on my iPods and previous camcorders it has been total bull shit. It covers almost nothing and things they do cover they almost always are able to do something to get around it. I have heard b&h has a pretty decent warranty program though and i dont think Walmart sells macs but if they do there warranty is the best one i know of but if your only option is bestbuy definitely dont do it or see if they have an option where you could get the warranty through apple instead of them.

I hear applecare is unbelievable. Bring your computer to an apple store and they'll repair anything no questions asked. Other warranty policies have never impressed me besides applecare

its $350 for the apple one, but only like $240 if you are a student (which there is no way of checking hint hint). I would say do apple beacue it will go directly through them, and they are very good and prompt. My dog bit through my ipod when it was still under complimentary coverage and they sent me a new one. Also they will replace your battery/charger if they wear out, hinges etc., and adding ram doesn't void your warranty. Lastly, with the student discount, it is a better deal than a third party one (for the macbook, not necessarily true for an iPhone), and you can buy it up to a year after your original purchase date.

this is what i have and it is unreal! they cover any damges and can give you support on all software such as fcp or adobe products live on the phone I really love it

Whaaat? When I purchased my Apple Care the guy said they don't cover any damages. If he was mistaken I'd be really stoked

Applecare is by far the best program I've ever bought, great service, don't even question it. My macbook pro bricked a few years ago, was stuck on the setup screen, they helped me reset it without losing anything.

whats wrong with the best buy warranty. I have been working at futureshop in the camera department for about 3 years now and I havnt seen any exceptions.

Future shop is the same exact thing as bestbuy, just canadian and with a commission pay.

I personaly inspect cameras for repair and in almost 3 years, I have only seen about 3 exceptions, all due to physical damage.

maybee you sent it during the first year where some manufactures insist on handling the repairs. they often have exceptions but not best buy.

best buy is notorious for selling overpriced warranties that don't cover the product as much as advertised. Also, the apple service is just so good. When my ipod broke, from the time I reported it to the time i received it back was well under a week, and I live in VT. It also covers accessories, and best buy doesn't cover things like normal wear and tear

Give me an example, and yes wear and tear is covered just not physical damage. I have sent so many cameras to repair with just a pushed in button or crooked door. I think your basing yourself on generalisations here.

No. If they find out that those programs are torrented, you will not get help what so ever. I have had an unfortunate experience with this. Same with a cracked screen or 3rd party RAM. They can be pretty picky about what they fix.

Don't buy a mbp at best buy, if you go to an apple store you have your student discount and another discount on the applecare warranty. My mbp cost me 1511$ whit the 3 year warranty, tax in and i got a 100$ giftcard

best buy doesn't cover anything that they don't see as inhibiting the normal function of the laptop. They also try to sell you a ton of overpriced things you don't need, and furthermore, it takes them forever to replace products, because they ship them out. I have personally dealt with applecare, I called them, sent in my info online, and I had another ipod by the end of the week. I'm not trying to discredit your store by any means, but if you look around there seems to be a new story every week about a former best buy geek squad agent, and it is just easier to do everything through apple.

Also to those of you wondering, apple does cover you if you upgrade the ram.
