hellbents, if i'm not mistaken, lack camber, so the hardpack performance is not going to be as good as the chetlers. they also have a wider waist, more rocker, and are softer than the chetlers i believe. if you want a strict pow ski that is fat, jibby, and floats like crazy go with the hellbents. if you want a pow ski that can jib, charge somewhat, AND handle hardpack, go with the chetlers.

All these skis suck on anything besides fresh snow. I have the Opus and the Chet's. Amazing in Pow and even fun in the park when the snow is fresh and soft. I strongly suggest getting the longest length available. Such easy skis to ride.

Agree. The hellbent's are buttery goodness unmatched by any other pow ski out there IMHO. I spent all season demoing pow skis I didn't find anything that rode the same.

Pre-clownbent Hellbents (122mm waist) are flat underfoot. The 132mm ones are very slightly cambered and ski a lot better on the hardpack.

Honestly both will excel in pure powder. Both have a shitload of rocker both tip and tail (obviously hellbents have more, but chets still have quite a bit) and very wide dimensions which relates to unsinkability. However, the hellbents are going to be much more of a slow-speed jib ski. The Bent Chetlers will feel extremely playful, surfy, and pivoty (taper), but are going to feel a lot faster and more high performance than the hellbents. I had some hellbents last season and I loved them in light untracked powder, but I got rid of them (now in the possesion of jaredmdub) because the giant tip coupled with the super high rocker splay coupled with the noodley flex just made them unbearably unstable in variable conditions. Also, in heavier powder at high speeds, I could actively feel the ski flexing and pushing against the snow. The lower rocker "plane not plow" tech that line introduced with the opus sounds like a gimmick but it is completely true. I could feel the ski slowing me down and they definitely had a reachable speed limit. The chetlers have a much lower rocker, stiffer springier flex, shark nose, and camber underfoot. This will translate to a much faster, higher performance ski while still being super fun and playful and buttery. It will also cut through chop much better than the hellbent, as well as railing much better on groomers. Both are great skis, but it really comes down to what you will be using them for to make your decision. Grab a pair of hellbents if you want a pure powder ski for huge deep days that will have unparalleled floatation even at slow speeds, albeit with a speed limit. Grab a pair of bent chetlers if you want a powder ski that will excel on deep days, but also when things get tracked out and you see yourself both jibbing and charging lines. The bent chetlers are hands down a better all around resort ski. I would give the [slight] advantage to the hellbents for real deep days.

Id say get Bent Chetlers over Hellbents because if you land a bit backseat on the Hell bents you will be on your ass, where as on the Bent Chetlers they have a bit more stability to keep you on your feet in those sketchy landings

Bentchetler's are a waaaaay more versatile ski than the Hellbent. I would bet you're going to see more K2 pro's skiing the Pettitor than the Hellbent this year too. Too beig to be useful on anything but the deepest lightest days imaginable.

HONESTLY, you will be happy purchasing either one. hellbents will also be much heavier then chettys. my buddy has 169 hellbents that are as heavy as my 183 chettys (which i love dearly) both are phenomenal skis

I say this in every hellbent thread...i am 6'3" 215 pounds and I can get over my hellbents and show them whos boss in any condition, ya camber underfoot gives you a lot more confidence on hard pack, I just recently acquired some 192 chetlers and will let you know how they compare when snow hits

i dont understand why people think you need camber underfoot to work on hardpack. i skiied the 122 bents and the first gen ep pros in park and hardpack all the time, never felt like i couldnt edge well, the ep's were a little sketch on jumps over 40 feet cause they are insanely soft, but the bents were fine, i could land like 60 footers backseat and ride away fine. and actually, a flat/rocker underfoot ski is fucking awesome for carving around the park, you can rip some crazy snowboard style carves off jumps that ive never been able to do on cambered skis, that and the flat/rocker makes everything so surfey smooth feeling, camber underfoot kinda ruins it.

ive had last years bacons and the kung fujas from 2 years ago, both camber underfoot rocker tip and tail, and i didnt like them. to me the whole point of a rocker ski is to ski like a rockered ski, like surfing. camber underfoot even with decent tip and tail rocker just feels like a normal camber ski that just skis better in pow. skiing park on the 122 bents was like a whole new kind of park skiing, and actually allowed me to do more. with camber underfoot you might as well get a 80mm waist park ski.

and speaking of flat/rocker underfoot. anyone know what skis this year will NOT have camber underfoot? seems like there are a lot less which sucks cause im in need of a new pair of fat skis.

I own a pair of hell bents and have never skied the bentchetlers but if i didn't have like 6 pairs of skis i would definitely go with the bentchetlers. The hell bents are not super versatile but they are super fun in blower pow. If your looking for a 1 ski quiver or a second dedicated pow ski the bentchetlers are the way to go. If your looking to build a big quiver with 3+ pairs of skis then i would go with the hell bents

Sage Cattabriga-Alosa Leaves Rossi and Signs With Atomic

Jan 20th 2010

Sage was rocking Rossignol and rocking it well for the last couple years. The Rossignol S7 complemented the way Sage skis and gave him the tools to confidently ski the biggest lines in Alaska. Now it looks like he will be rocking a pair of Atomic Bent Chetlers, but for how long? Because of the magnitude of this move there might just be a new Mr. Cattabriga-Alosa pro model ski in the near future. Only time will tell. For now we will ponder the fate of Rossignol and patently wait for new media from Atomic. Congrats Sage. READ THE PRESS RELEASE
