Hey guys looking for a "one ski quiver" for next year and cant decide between the two. I'm 5'11" 145lbs. teenager thats still growing. So looking at the 184 in the Bibbys and 187 in the YLEs, and high-intermediate to advanced skier. I like to ski it all, groomers, trees, bowls, chutes, like to jib, crud, chop, and everything in between. But i'm really trying to advance in powder. Ski Wolf Creek (southern Colorado) and dont have chance to demo or the money to rent from local shops. Thanks a bunch for the help!

The bibby is a great ski. Really versatile, and performs well in a wide range of conditions and snow types. Although I haven't skied it, I doubt the YLE will be as good all over due to the symmetrical shape.

I agree with this.. I use Bibby's as a one ski quiver setup.. Go for YLE's if you want to jib, go Bibby if you want a very good ski that can handle all conditions..

Thanks for the advice guys! I really want the ski to spin well and advance in all of meh tricks, which ski wins in this category? whats the swing weight like on the bibbys? should i wait for moments deathwish? thanks again!

go for the yle's dude. theyre like a fatter, pow jib oreinted park ski, made for spinning jibbing and butters.

Both are great skis but the bibby's are a little more directional and big mountain oriented so they would be better for charging down lines while YLE's would be better for what you described

Blister has a solid review of the Bibby so definately check that. If you're looking for something with a similar waist to the Bibby the ON3P Caylor may fit the bill, there is a short review of the Caylor on the blog quoted in my sig.

I spent 2 entire seasons in Colorado (Berthoud, RMNP, Breck, Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek, A-Basin, Loveland) skiing on the 190 Bibby exclusively. In those 2 years, I tried various other skis more geared towards hard pack and super deep powder. In the end, I sold everything and kept the Bibbys. Super versatile ski for Colorado. You won't be disappointed, and in the rare chance that you are, you'll find a long line of people waiting to take them off your hands.

About half of our office skis the YLEs every day at Alta, and let me tell you that despite their symmetrical shape, they ski amazing. Obviously they have a lot of tail, but when you design a ski to be ridden center, you can make it ski forwards really well.

I knew they'd kill it in the pow, but I was pleasantly surprised how well you can rail them on groomers.

get the bibby. best ski moment makes hands down and every ski moment makes is pretty killer so that means its exceptional. the bibby handles pow better than most pow skis and handles park and jumps as well as a park ski (if your not too into the tecky rail tricks) and It handles big mountain as well as any big mountain ski. honestly not a single other ski compares to it.

yle's might be more fun for all around at wolf creek seeing as its short and steep with longer flatter runouts to the lift. From my impression the bibby is stiffer and more of a charging ski. The playfulness of the yle will let you mess around more on the flatter stuff while still allowing you to be confident on the cliff areas like knife ridge or waterfall. Bibbys might be better if you had more sustained vertical on your mountain but thats just my opinion

Ok so if i were to get the 4frnt yle what size would be better for me, the 187 or the 177. I was set on the 187 then i saw on wileys blog that he skied the 177 for resort cruising, park, etc. and im close to being the same size as wiley. Still not dead set on the wiley but leaning towards it. What do you guys think of the armada jj. sorry i know im going back and forth a lot, i just want to make sure i get EXCATLY the right ski for me. Thanks!

If you want more playfulness, go for the 177. If you want more stability and float, then go for the 187. However at your weight, I think the 177 would be more then adequate for even the deeper days you'll see. That being said you could definitely ride the 187's, just would sacrifice some, gain some. However I think you'd enjoy the 177's for the added playfulness and lightness, and a ski of that size would still float well for you.

The JJ is like a softer, (possibly) more playful ski compared to the YLE, not symmetrical like the YLE but pretty close. Idk you should probably read around about the JJ, a lot of people love them, some.. not so much. But, at your weight I think the JJ would be a viable option for you to considering. If you are considering the JJ though, I think that pretty much eliminates the Biddy, because as far as aggressive big mountain ski it goes Biddy>YLE>JJ. So you're looking at something even less stiff and aggressive then the YLE in the JJ.

177 YLE's would be best suited for you in my opinion

I've used 2 pairs of Bibbys in the last 3 or 4 years as a one ski quiver. if you spend all day hucking tricks go for the YLE. if you want to actually ski and and want something that can perform as a big mountain charging ski, as a fat jibber and just an all around sick ski get the Bibby Pro. they are stiff and burly but can be buttered if your a strong skier. Moment is an awesome company who really look after their customers. they can be slow with e-mails sometimes though...

PONDER THIS : IF TOAST ALWAYS LANDS BUTTER SIDE DOWN, AND CATS ALWAYS LAND ON THEIR FEET, THEN IF TOAST IS STRAPPED TO A CATS BACK BUTTER SIDE UP, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN?

Basically, from what I gather, you seem to be looking for a ski that is good for jibbing/doing park type freestyle skiing but in the BC. Some very popular choices in this category are:

-K2 Hellbent (noodle, big high rocker tip and tail. No camber)

-Line EP Pro(see hellbent description, add slight taper)/Mr. Pollard's Opus (slightly stiffer than EP, long but low rocker tip/tail, camber underfoot.)

-4frnt YLE(symmetrical, stiffer, lower rocker, camber underfoot)/CRJ(tapered, rocker tip/tail, camber underfoot)

-Moment Night Train(super long low rocker, flat camber underfoot, taper, stiffer)/Ghost Chant (soft, symmetrical, rediculously high rocker splay tip and tail)

-Salomon Rocker 2 (med. flex, taper, rocker tip/tail, camber underfoot)

-Atomic Bent Chetler (See rocker 2 descr.)

-Klint Krypto (see rocker 2 descr.)

-Volkl Chopstick (stiffer, symmetrical, full rocker)

-Armada JJ (slightly narrower bentchetler)

-On3p Caylor (stiffer, rocker tip/tail, slight camber underfoot)/Jeffrey (narrower caylor with slightly more camber underfoot)

-Epic Planks Crop Duster (refined hellbent)

-Surface New Life (symmetrical, big rocker tip/tail, 3 stage rocker, stiff)/Live Life (more directional new life)

-Bluehouse Maestro (see rocker 2 descr.)/Maven (big tapered ginormofatty with semi-floppy tips for deep days)

The Bibby Pro is generally considered more of a charger that is focused on pow but can handle itself in chop and on groomed snow. It can be playful and you can definitely throw spins on it, but it's not geared as a jib ski, even though it's in their jib category. Any of the above listed skis will do well as a pow jib ski. Some will be more versatile, and some will be more pure pow oriented. Keep in mind that the descriptions of each ski are in relation to other pow jib skis. The YLEs are described as stiffer, but that's compared to a hellbent, not to a Volkl Explosiv, so keep that in mind. At this point, do some research on the above skis, and ask your self "as much as I'd like to think I'll be skiing switch in pow all the time, how often will I REALLY be throwing tricks off cliff and landing switch?" If you're honest with yourself and don't buy some EP pros because it makes your park self-esteem boost, you can get a lot of more directional skis that are much higher performance than the skis above. All of the skis above will be great for JIBBING in the powder, which means they must make some sacrifices in other categories. That soft playfulness you love in deep untracked will come back to haunt you in thick chop. Keep in mind some of these skis will still manage excellently in other conditions. For example, the On3p Caylor is known for being playful in pow, but still being able to charge hard through crud and chop. However, you'll never be able to drive a Caylor quite as hard as say, a Billy Goat.

Sparknotes: Research above skis. Evaluate own skiing style. Buy best skis for skiing style. Profit?
