I've been trying blind surface swaps for a little while now, and my success rate is about 50/50. Can't seem to figure out what works and what doesn't.

Kieran McVeigh seems to have it down, what do you do?!

Thanks.

Depends on the rail if it's decently wide you should get it immediately, Do it fast and snappy that should work.

Surprisingly I've never done a blind swap while jumping, like I can only do them surface swap style. Jumping to switch up just seems weird to me.

If you do it a bunch it's like the easiest thing to do on any round rail..

Yeah, that's what I'm finding. Thanks for the advice.

Also finding that keeping your feet close together during the swap is helpful.

pop on ti the rail carrying a little bit of momentum, do the exact same thing you would for when you pop, just edge a little harder. Slide your feet together as close as you can and try to put most of your weight on your uphill ski. It is a lot easier if you do them quickly. Just keep attempting and you'll get them down. Good luck

i am forgetting the name of the canyon but it is up by the water tank that 4bi9 hit in gunnie season. it is usually covered until super super late. with the bad snow year we were able to dig it out a little bit and hit it.

assuming your right foot forward and spinning left. once you start spinning put your skis close together and i usually look at the rail when im facing backwards then make sure you skis are flat or if your not on rockered skis lift your right ski up slightly and your left tail up slightly and once you get the swap around look towards the end of the rail and stomp it. thats what works best for me just takes a bit of practice but it feels sick once you can do it every time.

This was the first swap I learned. It's really easy if you just focus on giving a little more rotation when you are doing your 90 degree on at the start of the rail. From there, narrow up your stance, and let your momentum take you through the swap as well as prompting it with a little edge control.

Try this.

Usually when you approach a rail you're face it at like a 20 degree angle right? So instead of that 20 degrees, try adjusting it to about 30-50 degrees, this will put you into a grind stance automatically and your body will throw yourself right into it.

Then just follow the usual rules for surface swaps.
Don't take anything I say in NSG seriously. Ever.

same concept but i find it easier to throw almost like a 270 on but instead just hit the rail at 90 and let that momentum carry you
