I dunno about that. who do you think has gone faster switch? 128 km/h is pretty damned fast. At the hill I normally ski at you can`t even get going that fast with a full race setup.

none of these kids have. if they say they are, they are lying. even pro downhill racers only get up to 80 on the absolute steepest sections of a course, when they are pretty much free falling. i did a few super-g events when i used to race, and the fastest ive ever been clocked was 62. thats with 188 skis, a speed suit, racing helmet, mouth shut, and pole straps taped. i was in the lowest tuck possible down the steepest section of the course, and i was terrified.

At my homemountain, Vars, is where the world championships of speed goes on so we have a nice place to take some speed. Well you can speed check yourself I got at exactly 97kph (i remember that day...)
And I was literally blown away !! Haha in my mind I was like "dude, imagine you fall or something..."

Really great but scary feelings. Couldn't imagine doing that switch !

racers go up to around 148kph, but thats just on the highspeed sections of a very few races! i did 83kph switch and when i look back i wonder how i cuold even try...

people have gotten goin pretty fuckin fast in the backcountry straight lining lines switch. Some of them probably going faster than tanner even, but i have to agree that this has to be the fastest

Skiing a ski jump landing forward is pretty fast and a lot of fun but switch is just crazy.
You put on your boots, click into your bindings,
dust the snow off your skis, and head out for the chair, and it doesn't matter
that you failed a test, didn't get the girl, or that your life is on a one way

Anders Backe of Norway set the Guinness World Record for skiing switch (backwards) on February 21st of 2012 at the Vikersund skiflying slope in Norway.  Anders hit 79.97mph skiing backwards.  To put this in perspective, professional/olympic downhill skiers can hit 100mph in a downhill event and are often in the 70 - 85 mph range.  The downhill skiers are also skiing forwards and using skis designed for speed, Anders did this on his park skis, a pair of Head Caddys.

Got home a few hours ago, dead beat from the weekend of skiing. Håtveits jump was pretty funny, and you got a lot of hangtime too!  I finally got to hit it switch after yesterdays bad skiing.
