What lenses do you have now? basically the d7000 has much better low light but has less frame rates for video. If you can wait they think the d8000 will come out in fall.

I shoot with a Nikon and love it. Technologically they are very similar to Canon, but Nikon is a smaller company and makes primarily cameras (not that that matters that much). Even though I prefer Nikon, if you want to use your camera for video I would get the Canon and sell your Nikon lenses. That being said, even the cheapest camcorder will take better video than the dslr because they are made to focus properly for video. Finally, the d7000 is a lot of camera for an amateur photographer. I shoot with a d40 but spend loads more on lenses, which are what really matter I think. Chris

I think that the statement about a cheap camcorder shooting better than a DSLR is not true at all....

A ton of really good filters on here (Will Start, Zac Moxley, Mike Blatt etc) all shoot with either primarily DSLR's or have them as a secondary camera. DSLR's are actually really great for video, and a "cheap camcorder" isn't even going to compare to a DSLR quality wise.

These were shot on DSLR's

anyone up for some side booters?

The d7000 is a very sick camera, the biggest drawback is that it shoots at a max. fram rate of 30fps, which just means that slow-mo at anything below 80% of full speed would look bad.

A friend of mine who is an intern at iNi shoots on a d7000 and makes some really sick edits with it, here's examples of sick footage of a d7000.

either way, wait for these two great camera's replacements if you can. the d7000 might not be replaced that soon but the d400 is coming out very soon, and i believe the 7d is due for an update as well.

If you’re a Nikon D7000, D800, D800E, or V1 owner listen up, because Nikon has issued a voluntary recall on the rechargeable Li-ion EN-EL15 battery that’s used to power those cameras. First Rumored Specs for Canon?s Entry-Level Full-Frame

Jul 16th 2012

It’s been pretty well established for some time now that both Canon and Nikon have been working on entry-level full-frame offerings that they will most likely debut at Photokina in September. Unfortunately for Canon fans, while we’ve gotten plenty of info on the Nikon D600 (including a photo leak), Canon has been significantly more tight [...]

Crazy Rumor: Nikon Camera With a Canon EF Mount

Crazy Rumor: Nikon Camera With a Canon EF Mount

May 29th 2012

We’re gonna call this rumor “significantly farfetched,” but stranger things have happen and we’d hate to miss out on this one just in case somehow it comes to fruition. Someone personally told the folks over at Northlight Images that Nikon and Canon are swapping some patents, the result of which will be a Nikon camera [...]

Nikon D7000 Review

Nikon D7000 Review

Nov 25th 2010

Ok, so I’ll start off by saying I love this camera. I’ve used it for a little over a week and a half now, and every day I learn something new. Given, I took the jump from a Nikon D200 (which I use as my backup body now) and the D200, now, seems ancient. I [...]
