Subject: Boots for the park?
hey i was wonder about ski boots to park use, i had a pair of "park" only boots, after only 40 days of skiing, i was starting to get shin bang, the boots were very soft like an 80 flex, it got to the point were i couldnt walk after skiing, my last trip this season i went big and ended up making my shins bleed, not just from little spots, i cracked my shins open, to make a long story short, i needed to get stiches on both shins, 29 in all. ive been doing research adn found full tilt, they claim to be great, nice and flexable but they dont come in a size 31 or 31.5, any other suggestions for " park only boots"

If you know how to ski then you won't ever get shin bang. Lean forward into the boots. Also what size feet do you have? 31.5 is massive.

Its a myth that you will only get shin bang when you land backseat, a badly fitting boot can give you shinbang even when you ski correctly.
It sounds like your boots were too big for you.
Your best bet, is to let your shins heel up, then in September when the new boots come in stock, go get fitted up. Make sure you get some decent fottbeds too.

What the fuck, you actually split your shins open? Sweet jesus, that's more than just shinbang. That's like... ultrabang. I can't really see how you could do that, do you have insanely thin/delicate skin or something?
go into the fanciest ski shop in your area and get your feet examined by a proper bootfitter, you dont have to buy from there but he'll tell you your proper size and what brands/types of boots are going to fit your feet. continue your search from there, try on lots of boots, but whatever you do dont buy a boot that doesnt fit or is uncomfortable.

okay thanks guy, my feet are 14.5 us, i got the boots that fit, they were small.... i dont really land backseat,i have, but many jumps i hit are big ( when i split my shins, i was skiing in breck @ freeway for a small video, after a week i was dead) could the shin bang be from the stiffness of the boot and the amount of padding left in the boot? does full tilt make boots size 31.5 or 31....
you have huge feet! full tilt makes the booter and first chair in a 30 but that might not fit you. ive never seen any full tilt bigger

when you're in trouble, tuck for a double!
^ dont just try on SPk's and Full tilts, let the boot fitter look at your feet and see which boots he thinks would be best for you.
A little more info may help work out why you had bad problems.
How old are you?
How tall are you?
How much do you weigh?
Those bits of info may help alot in your case.
Don't go in with any specific boot in mind. Bring a thin ski sock you plan to wear with the boots. All you do is describe the type of skiing you plan on doing. A boot fitter should size you up to determine proper fit in length / width / flexibility etc. As well as ask questions to determine your ability and needs. Never go to big, you can't make a boot smaller. You can how ever pack out the liner and punch out the plastic shell to eliminate hot spots. If you have problems with shin bang, odds are you've been wearing boots that are too big.
