I'm surprised at how many people use final cut. I use premiere pro cs3 and still prefer it. I haven't seen any reason to upgrade to cs5 yet, but I'll have to look into the cs6
Adobe's on the up and up. They're really moving for the market share.
Some of the comments were interesting, and they bring up good points. One guy points out that the OP is leaving FCP7 for PP6 but never had any problems with FCP7. "If it's not broken, why fix it?" he asks. That'll probably be pretty true for a lot of FCP users. On the other hand, for those for whom the improved workflow is a plus...the switch may be in the future.

Solid points for sure with the "if it's not broken, why fix it?" comment. If FCP7 is what a person is used to and they can still get everything done in a timely manner with it, then there's no need to upgrade.Adobe's on the up and up. In my eyes (a touch biased as I've always used premiere), adobe is making some serious power moves and allowing for a much faster workflow than currently available in FCP7. The ability to work with just about any file format in one timeline without having to spend the time to transcode is huge. With the addition of some of these new features you'll be able to take a project from start to finish without ever having to leave premiere.
I love how they finally added adjustment layers; that'll be a huge timesaver when it comes to grading a whole timeline. 3d motion tracking in AE is also huge as that's something you used to have to do with 3rd party programs.
I'll be making the upgrade very shortly for sure. They seem to impress me more and more with every new version.

I upgraded to a gh2 around the time of the whole final cut x release. I hated x, don't even get me started haha. But premiere can take avc-intra natively, and I got my new macbook around the same time, so it lets me utilize all 4 cores and all 8gb of ram. Essentially, I went from having to wait forever to get each clip to convert to pro res (which is even more annoying with avc-intra), to being able to do everything in a render less timeline. Everything is so fast, and I decided it would be a good first step towards learning after effects. I still love fcp7, but since switching I almost never have to wait for anything. I have cs5.5 now, so I will probably wait a while to upgrade, but from what I have heard, cs6 looks very good

Downloading now. The UI looks really nice and simple campred to CS5.5, that's all I can say for now. I'll post back
