someone's gotta say it....

if you have $600 now and just want a camera to play around while you're saving more money for lenses that's fine. But it's pretty tough/near impossible to just use the t2i and the kit lens and be satisfied. Just know that even though you're dropping $600 on the camera now, you should be planning to spend atleast another thousand on accessories/lenses.

I'm not saying don't get the t2i, just didn't want you to be blind sided. I did the same thing, expecting to spend about a grand on a t2i setup. I'm now about 3-4 thousand deep and still want more toys

If you're gonna do it, get it refurbished with Canon, it's what I did and I haven't had a single problem

I agree with you, i started out with just the t2i, the kit and the 50mm 1.8. i didn't add anything else to my set up for close to a year. I fell like this gave me time to really figure out my camera as well as save up the extra cash for the tripod, glidecam, more lenses and a mic.

I was pretty satisfied when i first got my 2ti because the t2i was a massive step up from what i had. I feel like as your personally satisfied there is no need for more. No doubt you will eventually become dissatisfied and end up buying more for your setup.

Im at least a few grand deep at this point but 100% worth it and its been close to 2 years since i bought my t2i refurbished.

OP go refurbished if anything.

Refurbished for sure
think of how sick it will look when you land it, then picture yourself in a throne in a purple cloak and thousands of wet bitches are crawling to you, grabbing their crotches. you yell "enough, get NAKED!" and they do so. now you show them the edit. the intro builds up intensity as more lines and instruments come into the song. just as you take off the lip, the beat drops, and all of the women climax simultaneously as you land, afterbang, and ride out. - broto

Get it used in good condition, or refurbished. Either way, you'll be happy.

But as has been said. You have to buy a bunch of other lenses and toys to make your setup better. People get too crazy about camera bodies without knowing the kit lens is a joke to work with.
Have a nice day, Bluename.

^that said, if you can find a used/refurb'd BODY ONLY then you're set... as you can save what money you would have spent on a lens you wouldn't really want to use, on at least something like a 50mm 1.8

if you're buying body only and you're only going to have one lens, I would recommend something like the sigma 30mm f1.4, or something around that focal length, because 50mm on a crop sensor will be pretty tight if thats your only lens

Get it through CLP. By far the cheapest.

It's like 65% of the 'new' price. Except it's refurb, which is really even better if you ask me.

If you know where to find deals you can get into photography with the T2i pretty cheaply, I'm about 1100 in and have the kit lens, a 55-250, a Tamron 17-50, a nifty fifty, tripod, 5 extra batteries, class 10 sdhcs, macro tube, ND fillters, caddy and a backpack and I'm really satisfied with it

neither of which are useful for video. But for entry level photo, great deal

I wouldn't say useless for video. Both do 720p. the T1i at 30fps and the t3 at 25. For one on a budget, that's a pretty good deal. In comparison, I've used both the K-x and K-r from Pentax - both of which offer only 720@25, and I've been satisfied with the outcome of work.

For entry level VIDEO, it's a great deal if you can't score on an evilbay bidding war...

I'm looking at getting a t2i but I'm pretty new when it comes to cameras, I just want to do it right the first time. I want it to be used to film wakeboarding and skiing plus some decent pictures as well for those two things. sorry I sound like a noob saying this but is that kit with the lenses good for what I want? also how do you guys go about videoing with a t2i for skiing? do you use a tripod or hold it or what? seems like it would be awkard to hold...I don't know thats just me
