Subject: Mastermind Vs. Afterbang Vs. Double Six
Was a previous boarder who made the switch to skiing late February of
this year. I bought the rossignol ghetto pros off a friend for use of
this year. Never skied before in my life and for my 1st year i did well.
landed some 3's and a couple grabs. i live in urban southeast Michigan
so my home mountain is only terrain park. i am unsure whether i should
get the mastermind, double six, or afterbang. i will be hitting mostly
boxes, 20 ft kickers and a few a frame and hand rails. I am guessing i
will ski probably 2 or 3 times a week this winter. i wanna know if im
doing some 5's or 7's and maybe throw in a backflip which ski to get, i
do an even amount of hitting kickers and jibbin. i also ski at nubs knob
and schuss so there is a few back trails but i wouldn't get an all
mountain ski for that purpose, i wanna mainly do a park ski. anyones
help would be awesome, thanks
I've rode masterminds for a few years now. Super light weight and super flexy. They are also pretty skinny but they held up pretty good for 3 seasons of hard riding of rails boxes jumps ect. Good beginner ski due to the flex and not worrying about landing back seat and getting shin bang. The afterbangs I have not rode but I have heard they are heavy and don't hold up too well. I'd say mainly a jib ski. Hope this helps good luck
Thanks for The help man. I heard the mastermind doesn't have symmetric flex though so you shouldn't center mount it, can you center mount it and if so will it still give good results?

After having the masterminds for a year, they are amazing. Light weight, flexible but not to soft for a rail. Also my top sheat chipped minimal (not that it matters) and they base held up pretty well. I highly recomend them.

Mine have been center mounted for 3 seasons with no problems. The master minds can take a beating

I don't know if this applies to the D6, but I demoed the Ace of Spades in Whistler and they were terrible. Maybe it's just that model or Nordica's just junk. But I also tried out next year's Line TC and they were sick. I'm getting them once they go on the market. Maybe look into those? the double six will ski better and be a much higher quality ski

My advice would be to pick up a pair of Anthems from 2010 (snowboarder graphic), those are essentially the same ski as the TC. Masterminds tend to flex out a lot on landings, and I've heard at least a few cases or core snaps. I ride in SE Michigan too, and that's the best park ski I've ridden so far. For park, K2 Domains would do well also, and handle more easily on slushy days
