CU means "CU Boulder" by definition. No one thinks you're talking about UCCS. It's just CU.

Base your college choice of academic fit and life fit not skiing. You can ski at nearly any school above the fortieth parallel. What are you like academically? Is CU engineering a good fit? or do you belong at a higher caliber school? CU is a huge school with a lot of graduate students and the classes are big and typically taught by grad students. Is that what you're into?

So....ignorant posts, is that what you're into? Do you have any clue what the fuck you are talking about or did you just hear a few things and decide it was your turn to post?

The engineering program at CU is nothing like the rest of the university. It is ranked in the top 35 in the nation and the top 20 for public universities, more astronauts have come from CU than ANY other school and I personally have always had my lectures taught by a professor, not a grad student. My differential equations and linear algebra teacher last fall was a tenured professor at Cal Tech before coming to CU...so get the fuck out of here with all your ridiculous statements about the caliber of the engineering school. It is much more tight knit than the rest of campus because it is fairly small and you can easily get to know and recognize the people that are your year in your major.

Yes, the rest of campus and the other majors are a joke for the most part, there are some exceptions astrophysics is in the top 5 in the nation I believe, but don't apply that to the entire university...thanks

Fuck yeah. I don't got to FL, but it is indeed a sick school, sick town. I need to make friends somehow though, I should find like minded folk in that town.

Only 2ish hours to moab.

No I think that's your domain. Where do I begin?

Firstly, just because you have personally never had a grad student doesn't mean much except that your experience was different than mine. I was going to take Calc 3 there this fall, but the grad student teaching the class went on a long rant about unit vectors in two space, then when I talked to him after the class, seemed not to care not only about what I was saying, but also what the other CU students were saying to him. I talked with my math teacher about this, who taught at CU as a grad student herself, and she said that grad students often taught courses at CU. Sure, there was generalization in play, but it was based of personal experience and off someone who taught there.
Secondly, CU's nmo physics is ranked first in the country, but that is for graduate school and thus not related to OP.
Thirdly, I am not trying to tell you CU's program is "shitty": it is not. I just said that there are higher caliber schools that the OP could go to, schools you ironically referenced (i.e. Caltech) within your post. CU has a good engineering program, I don't deny that.

All I wanted to do was ask the OP if he really wanted to go to CU. I felt like maybe to much skiing was influencing his decision. I love skiing, but there are colleges with terrible skiing where I would be much more at home than the University of Utah or CU. Relax, and I'm stoked that you seem to like engineering at CU. I'm taking linear algebra/diff eq there next year, hopefully I'll get your same professor and see you around campus.
