wow my gear has changed a lot since I last posted

Nikon D700 (probably uprgade to D800 soon)
Rokinon 24mm 1.4 (currently selling it)
Rokinon 35mm 1.4
Nikon 50mm 1.2 (might sell in favour of the zeiss 50mm 1.4)
Zeiss 85mm 1.4
I ended up not having enough money for the 14-24 but I hopefully should be ordering it soon

wouldn't mind having a tilt-shift either like a 45 or 85

Just curious, why didn't you get the Rokinon 14mm? Seems like you like the Rokinon primes a lot, plus it would have saved you several hundred bucks!
Because I'm from the suburbs, not Compton. And you look like an idiot when you are all thugged out in the parking lot waiting for Mom to pick you up in her Lexus crossover.

Oh. Gotcha. Just shot on my buddys Rokinon 8mm fish today. Pretty interesting. If I ever move up to GH2/GH3, I think that could be a perfect lens.

Been whoring it up lately, plus needed to take a photo for insurance purposes. Got the 7D saying I wouldn't want to go to full frame...but wanting a full frame is already seeping into my brain damnit. Oh well...thankfully not going to have the money to do that for a long time.

Camera:
-Canon 7D w/ Grip & RS-Sport

Lenses:
- Bower 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye
- Canon 50mm f/1.8
- Canon 85mm f/1.8
- Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
- Canon 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
- Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS
- Canon 70-200 f/4 IS

Click for larger image

Really want to add a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (though no go if I want to go full frame down the line). At some point also going to swap out the 50mm f/1.8 for the sigma 50mm f/1.4. Maybe the 85mm if I win the lotto. We will see beyond that. My credit cards hate me.

Not yet. Alot of my work goes straight to commercial use, or has rights that limit me from releasing it for awhile. The stuff I can put out, I just haven't had time to throw together in an edit yet. I should have something by years end.

Been whoring it up lately, plus needed to take a photo for insurance purposes. Got the 7D saying I wouldn't want to go to full frame...but wanting a full frame is already seeping into my brain damnit. Oh well...thankfully not going to have the money to do that for a long time. Camera: -Canon 7D w/ Grip & RS-Sport Lenses: - Bower 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye - Canon 50mm f/1.8 - Canon 85mm f/1.8 - Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 - Canon 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS - Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS - Canon 70-200 f/4 IS Click for larger image Really want to add a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (though no go if I want to go full frame down the line). At some point also going to swap out the 50mm f/1.8 for the sigma 50mm f/1.4. Maybe the 85mm if I win the lotto. We will see beyond that. My credit cards hate me.
Get a 1DS for like 800 or less and keep the 7D around for video purposes. Would be a crack setup there...
Have a nice day, Bluename.

Damn. I didn't even know you could find those for less than 1000 bucks or so now...

That said, I'd probably still take the original 1Ds over the 5D classic.

same continuous burst rate, much better AF, longer battery life, 100% VF...

Yeah, it's bigger/heavier, and gives you 1 less megapixel, but the pros of the 5D mk1 over the 1Ds mk1 are absolutely negligible IMO. Maybe ISO performance is worse in the 1Ds, but really, if you're using good glass, you're not going above 400 anyways...

work with a 5dc file and then work with something else, you will see why the 5dc is so widely loved

Fair enough. I don't have enough experience with either of those cameras when it comes to working with their files to make a judgement there.

Might wanna get the gh3, I quote you from a few weeks ago after using my fs100 on a glidecam... "fuck that, its way to heavy, how do you do that". You might not be able to handle the fs100 bud.

not attempting to hate at all, but don't most people find it easier to fly, or at least control a heavier set up?

Have you ever lugged around a large camera before? Gets pretty tiring after a while

Not long ago I was working on a shoot that had a Scarlet on a Glidcam 4000 and it did alright for how quickly we balanced it and the extreme movements that were happening. If a fs100 is to heavy i think that just comes down to personal strength...with lenses and kitted out i've had a fs100 on a glidecam at around 5 lbs...the Scarlet was pushing 11.

Might wanna hit the gym if the fs100 is to much to handle on a glidecam. The guys flying the glidecam for the shoot I was on, had tired arms but they were going for good lengths at a time. This was with a battery in the side handle... on another I was on we had mine on there with a RED Volt mounted on the back and we could still go 3-5 minutes at a time rest for a few seconds and keep going...that was pushing close to 12-15. It's hard for sure but its doable.

The FS700 is a bit heavier but I'd bet it's still less than 10lbs.

Physically speaking, small cameras are worse for flying. If I were a glidecam kinda guy, I'd save up for the fs100. But alas, I'm a BC sherpa, hence the GH2.

Instagram Concept Camera May Become a Reality, Now Seeking Crowdfunding

May 16th 2012

A couple of weeks ago two concepts for a “real-life” Instagram camera rolled across our computer screens — one fake and funny, one real and kind of cool — but we were pretty certain that neither of them would become a reality any time soon. It seems, however, that we’re being proven wrong by ADR [...]

If you’re the kind of person who hates expensive collectors items then you may want to look away; because a 1923 Leica O-Series just set a new world record and became the most expensive camera ever sold. The price? Approximately $2.79 million after tax. The funny thing is that the exact same model (there are [...]
