Not gona lie but i think that was the best skiing edit i have ever seen from you. I really enjoy your other ones for different reasons but this was technically superior to all of you past work IMO. Glide cam work, editing, color all just made me feel good watching it. Awesome. my new favorite edit from you.

midnight city was a poor choice imo. i didn't know we were saying fuck it to the general rule of trying to avoid reusing songs. i've heard that song so many times by now that it's lost its impact.


other than that, i enjoyed it very much, shots looked beautiful. 11-16?

I mean, its in a victoria secret commercial and i love the song... if another major ski/snowboard filmer use it i wouldnt have. But, i decided to use it because i like it and i tested it out with the intro and it was to perfect, i had to do it.

And yes, tokina 11-16, i fuckin love it, need a new adapter though.

Yeah I love it too. I've heard it in multiple ski edits though, but nothing super major. I believe Stephan used it in a preseason edit?


I gotta get my hands on one of those. Noob question here: If I buy the Nikon mount version, how well will it work on my T2i with an adapter? I know nothing about using Nikon lenses on Canon bodies.

And another question: I was DP on a set last weekend and we were trying to shoot with a Nikon mount Tamron (a 10-24 or something). However, when we would mount the lens on my dumb NIK-NEX adapter, it would automatically close the aperture as much as it could, which I'm guessing was around f/22 or so. Since the lens has no aperture ring, we couldn't change the aperture. And even if we mounted it on a Nikon body and changed the aperture, it would reset when I mounted it on the FS100. So I take it the 11-16 doesn't do anything like that?

That's funny, I haven't heard it in any edit, guess I should watch more edits.

You could use it on your t2i, but you would need a nikon "G" mount adapter. these adapters come with a ring or pin that can adjust the aperture of the nikon g lenses. This is possible because nikon is smart as fuck and put a lever on the mount that moves the aperture. it looks like fotodoix makes one for about 80 bucks, could be worth it for sure.

So you had the problem i just mention above, you didnt have a nikon G adapter, with my adapter (nikon g -> NEX fotodoix, 50 bucks) the ring adjusts the aperture. But, there is a little bit of light leakage (direct light only) because its a cheap adapter, whenever i get 300 extra dollars im buying a novoflex adapter.

You need an adapter with a built in aperture ring. I recommend the novoflex or mtf.

I almost bought a Novoflex when I bought my FS100 but I think I just didn't understand the need for it at the time.

yeah man, ive seen so many people hyping the novoflex and i was like wtf the fotodoix costs 50 bucks but now with using the fotodoix a bunch, i realize why people want the novoflex because i want it now haha

God damn that was pimp!

Everything flowed so nicely, the colours were on point, the glide cams were nice the skiing was ill & park city sure knows how to get fucking creative.

The only criticism I have is;
-Song was used in a high cascade edit (I really dont care though)
-I wish their could have been a few more tripod shots (not sure if their was any)
-Their was a weird black bar on the edge of the screen in a few shots

Besides that, it was on point.
Good job heath.

thanks man! im aware of that high cascade edit now, my bad, i hate when people reuse songs of big edits, but im sure only a hand ful of skiers actually saw that edit, so im not too worried either.

I filmed one day all glide cam, super creative i know haha

the dark bar is from my adapter leaking light, just need to put a piece of tape over the spot and im good to go. glad you liked it man

so sick, really liked the overall feel of the edit, pretty playful and easy going, but still people throwin down, especially for the first day.

I laughed a little at 1:33 with the noob label after the ski in the landing

thanks man! glad youre stoked. What exact shot are you talking about where the camera bobbles? sometimes its just me making a mistake, happens, im not perfect. the wind definitely effects the glide cam abit but you just have to give it a little more grip with your second hand.

Didnt like song, i think a lil more color correction woulda been nice, the edit's colors were kinda boring.

Will, Listen to Horner. The Novoflex is sick and really worth the money! However, with the FS100 update in January, possible get the LA-E2 (or something like that) with sony a mount lenses.

Looked a tad desaturated. Maybe I'm just used to seeing all the saturated bright colors and natural look now appears a little desaturated to me now

Evan I loved this edit you have made! Probably my favorite edit from you. Also congrats on the shout out from Level 1 and getting the frontpage of NS. Now I loved your glidecam shots they were money. I also really enjoyed the titles and the more natural colors. The flow of the edit was really good. Though I have seen Midnight City in a couple edits including Chai.'s I really enjoyed it in yours and understood why you chose it because it fits really well. My only real problem I had with the video was I would have enjoyed more tripod shots for some more variation. In the end thanks for getting me pumped to ski next weekend and hope to see some more stuff like this from you!

Stoked you liked it man! Yeah the song thing is my bad, but whatever. I will definitely be switching up my filming style for the next edit, i wanted to shoot another day for this edit but had some arch problems with right foot and could even put a ski boot on, so i just made the edit :) but in the next week or two ill probably have something new.
