Why are people so fucking frail?

I have been playing football for 4 years now, plan to do it for as long as possible. In my time, on average, one person gets hurt a game. Some kids on my team, who are huge and jacked and not frail looking one bit..get hurt like once every other game. I've had my hands stepped on, been punched in the nose. Had my chinstrap almost break my nose, but I've never taken a knee.


I don't see how people get hurt so easily? I mean, what the fuck? How are you so frail?

yeah i dont get it either
ive never been hurt (knock on wood) in any sport where i have been taken off the field/hill/pitch. but i see people all the time. im not huge or jacked either.
where will this thread go?

Or not, I've played pretty physically the last 2 years in senior. I don't always win, I mean last year I got put on my ass/shit-kicked half the time. I just haven't gotten hurt. I mean, our fullback is 245 lbs and 6'2". He gets hurt like once every other game.

yes maybe you should stop being so egocentric, if you realize that you are just lucky instead of thinking you are better than everyone else you might be closer to the truth, although there are some people who are just pussys, the majority of people that play football get injured at some point and you have probably just been lucky

i never get injured other than pulled muscles from not stretching properly

i've taken shots to the neck in lacrosse, shots to the stomach, even a shot directly to the penis (without a cup) and kept playing (my penis was sooo tender that night, luckly it didnt hit my balls at all).
i've been whacked in the neck, been speared in the neck.

i had my football helmet knocked down and bash into my eye, giving me a black eye, and then hitting me in the throat to the point where it felt like i was swallowing glass.

there are some frail people out there but you just pretty much called out everybody else. and there's a big difference between getting "hurt" like a stepped on hand, and getting injured

i dont really play football (5'9 125 lbs) but i love watching the NFL (go pats!) and i think injuries occur more often at certain positions, ie: HB, FB, QB. so it would help to know what position you are?

yeah man seriously don't let it go to your head, and think that you're invincible. It's all luck that you have not had a serious injury yet. And if you said that your player gets hurt every other game? Well is it possibly the same injury that happened before and he hurt it again? Possibly it did not heal right and it is a bit weaker. Just remember dude..

and yeah, knock on wood.

but never had any serious stuff. no broken limbs (just fingers but i play through that). no concussions.

i did sprain my ankle this summer. i could not continue my tryout and there was no trainer or ice there so basically i sat around while it just swelled up. I was playing again a week later in dire pain

yeah, like i ski 2-3 days per week all winter for the past 5 or so years in park and woods, and have never gotten an injury worse that a bloody nose and bruised knee, and then people that ski a couple times a year on groomers break their legs and wrists and stuff
guess i just got lucky, hope it continues

Maybe because we are made out of tiny little cells which are not meant to last forever, and with overuse or an accident, we are easily hurt. You could come down wrong on your ankle and break it, its really not hard to hurt yourself or have an accident while playing a contact sport.

What a horrible thread.

You should be getting on here saying "Wow, I am so blessed that I get to play super hard and seem to avoid injury while other around me seem to have it worse." What cracks me up about your statements it that you are making claims on yourself and against others that are totally beyond your or there control. That is like being annoyed because other people get hit by drunk drivers and you don't. Could you imagine saying that? "Man, what is with people getting hit by drunk drivers? I drive 5 hours a day around town and I've never been hit? What is with people being so stupid and getting hit?" That is about how absurd your post sounds.

And just for the record, I never had an injury until I was 20 and I used to think the same thing. I even got a bruised heart from getting hit so hard (true story) and was back playing a week later. But I sure didnt give the guy a hard time who has an ankle injury and missed three weeks for being "frail". Sheesh. I am disgusted.

this thread makes you look like a retard. i compound-fractured my tibia-fibula in a rugby game by tripping and landing on someone else. their knee acted as a fulcrum for my leg to come down on and snap right through.

shit happens by fluke, consider yourself lucky. not tough.

I haven't even broken fingers! The worst injury I've had playing football is I pulled one of my finger nails off grabbing at a jersey.

you play o line and kick returner? jesus. ive become frail since three years ago when i got hit playing hokey super awkwardly and tore my romboid. just had back injuries like crazy since then. i dont think it healed properly

I'm not saying I'm tough, I'm saying these kids are taking knees, and one has been for a legitimate injury, which was a separated shoulder. All the other ones, are the "oh I didn't go to the doctor, but I know it's sprained/torn" injuries

You get hurt when you take a play off. If youre not going as fast or as aggressive as the other guy, its easy to get twisted around and tear stuff. It also makes a difference if youre on the line or a specialist, linemen usually dont get hit while running at top speed so they dont get twisted around with as much force.

I'm good at blocking, and I'm larger than most of the kids on our team, unfortunately instead of fullback, I was given the job of guard. They still realize I can jangle like it's my fuckin job.

the bigger you are the harder you fall and the further you have to pick up speed on on the way. also they're probably not as flexible most big dudes aren't, it's a lot easier to get hurt if your all stiff and shit, gotta stay limber.

Im still amazed on how you can play o line and kick returner?..in my league (not to brag but its the toughest conference in the country) we play 1 position and special teams if we are lucky..and there are injuries, its just part of the game, but some you can play with, and some you simply cant..if your hurt, take a knee, its not worth making it worse..

(and if any of you were wondering the conference is the GCL and i attend elder high school)

I gained 30 lbs from last year to this year, as well as decreasing my 40 time from like 5.09 to 4.57. I've just become a lot more versatile. I'm good at blocking, I play o-line. I'm good at tackling, I play Middle linebacker. I'm good at getting yards after contact, I return kicks.

I found out about it when the rest of NS did, in August. I don't even have my licence, and when I get it, I'll probably drive my Mom's van. I spend my money on far more important things.
