Well, it's that time again, grass is growing and lawns are being cut, mom's handin over the bank card and you're lookin for some sick new skis to help shred the gnar. sooo if you havent the faintest idea which ski will help you land your switch triple cork 1440 onto c rail, double switchup pretzel 810 out. here's what to do.

FIRST: GO TO A SHOP
- look at their stuff, ask questions, find a price range, get ideas.... GET STOKED!

THEN: LOOK ON GOOGLE
- seriously

http://google.com/

it's awesome, and has lots and lots and lots of information.

THEN (STEP 3) COME ON NS AND ASK US!
(after using the handy searchbar, located in the upper right)
we know a lot about skis, and love helping kids find sick sticks. but we don't know alot about YOU!

so here's what you do, when making a thread tell us all this stuff.
here's what it would look like if i were to post a thread asking for help on a new pair of skis.

(important stuff is in CAPS(!))
Hello, my name is Mike and I ski in the THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST (location). I am an ADVANCE TYPE 3+ SKIER (ability level) that skis everything. but, what I'm looking for in this future pair of skis is a ski that PERFORMS IN (POWDER)(TIGHT TREES) and I like (HITTING BIG CLIFFS AND GOING FAST!) (this is what you want out of a ski. I am 17 5'10, 170 pounds (your body type is important) and my BUDGET(!) IS no more than $700 without bindings.

so, lets recap, to recommend a ski for YOU, I need to know:
LOCATION
HEIGHT/AGE/WEIGHT
ABILITY LEVEL
BUDGET
WHAT KIND OF SKI DO YOU WANT

So please, feel free to ask for help, that's why were here. Just please, make it easy for us to help you.

one piece to the question that i don't know has been addressed is what type of skiing the person likes to do. picking the right ski can depend so much on if the person stays in the trees, the big open runs, groomers, park, or a combination of all. its here that turn radius and swing weight become very important.

people also need to keep in mind that as much as people rip on this brand or that brand, for the most part, skis today are pretty well made, barring a few obviously. there is no "best ski out there," but rather there are a selection of skis to give you the option to pick the one that suits your style of riding. a person who likes turny, surfy, and fun will like Line. a light weight agressive skier will be at home on Armada, while heavier aggressive skiers may prefer ON3P.

so remember when u give advice in this forum, remember you are helping someone else find skis, not every recommendation should be what YOU like, but rather a list of a few good options that would make that person happy. at the end of the day we all want to be happy with our skis and have fun.

I can only speak for the halos. I like them more for each time I ride them. Playful, yet they do hold up on bigger kickers. The only thing I don't like about them is the high speed nollie problem. The nose is low and you will belly flop if you nollie hard @ high speed:p I'm sure you can time nollies better to avvoid this, but:p all in all a super fun ski.
