That was actually done with potassium ferricyanide, which is a pretty common photographic bleach. With most of the liquid manipulations I got the negative wet and just stuck it onto a sheet of clear acrylic so I could see what I was doing, then got to work. For the bleach I just mixed it up and put it on with a paintbrush, then let it run around the negative since the surface was wet. The edges were actually a bit too harsh initially, so I went back and feathered them out a bit. Then I put a drop of ink on it and pushed it around with a straw, which left the little white lines.

Qyuite a better choice i'd say. You dont really need a degree in photography to be successful, plus with your english lit degree can you pick up a job something like photojournalism quite easily?
