In its second year, the Winter Park Freeskiing Open--a Bronze AFP Event--was born because of the lack of AM/PRO Freeskiing slopestyle opportunities and events for athletes last winter. The goal was to have a unique format event, provide the finalists with exposure via a live webcast, allow participants to earn AFP point, be ranked and put some money in the pockets of the best freeskiing athletes in the region. We wanted to level the playing field and give sponsored and un-sponsored athletes the same chance to enter and compete for all the finalist spots. No favorites played at this event, so if you want to break onto the scene amongst the best – you can do it here. Event: Slopestyle, Open Class (no age-group classifications) Format: Overall Impression from the 3 FIS certified judges panel ▪ Qualifying: Best 1 of 2 runs slopestyle course. Top 10 men and Top 5 women advance to the Finals ▪ Finals: Big Air. This year's format TBA depending on the course layout. Athletes: ▪ No invitation required ▪ No pre-qualified athletes in Finals ▪ Open to the first 100 registrants (if you participated in last year's event, you will only have one day of early registration to pre-register into the event) Registration: http://bit.ly/cWisfM ▪ Early bird registration for last year's participants – 1 day only (February 15, beginning at noon) ▪ The remaining spots become available online February 16 at noon ▪ Bib pick-up: Friday, March 12 – Competition Center Office in the Balcony House / Saturday March 13 – Balcony House main level, 8-9am Entry Fee: ▪ $100, includes 1-day lift ticket for the day of the event.
