WINDELLS TO HOST THE USASA HOOD SERIES

Hood Series is The Premier Regional competition where athletes compete for a place at the USASA Nationals

MT. HOOD, OR – January 2010 - Windells is hosting the 2010 USASA Hood Series through January and February. This is one of 33 regional competitions in the U.S. supporting competitive snowboarding and freestyle skiing, with the winners competing for the USASA National title at Copper Mountain, April 4th – 9th. While there are other local competitions hosted in the Oregon region, the USASA Hood Series is the only competition where athletes have the opportunity to measure up against other athletes throughout the country, giving them a national ranking. Some of the winners will make a bid for the 2010 US Olympic Team.

“The USASA Nationals is the biggest snowboard event in the world. This regional event give local snowboarders and freestyle skiers the opportunity to compete on a national and international level and get in front of the biggest sponsors in the world,” says Tim Windell, owner of Windells. “Our campus is an ideal place to host the event – with our facilities, it’s a virtual actions sports playground.”

Running alongside the Hood Series this winter, is the Windells Team Program for skiers and snowboarders of all ages. The program is to foster in-depth training for those who want to further develop skills with a certified USASA coach on the hill and at the Windells campus. The program is designed to prepare athletes for USASA competitive events. Participants can choose either the overnight or day programs for 11 weekends throughout the 2010 season.
