Crested Butte, CO

The Smith Ski Team has been absolutely on fire this season. With multiple wins at X Games, Dew Tours, and the Aspen Open, it was now time for Smith's stable of powder shredders to step up. Now in its 19th year, the US Extremes are the longest running big mountain competition and this year the competitors were treated to all-star conditions. With more than 2 feet of snow blanketing the course before finals, the competitors put on a show for the rabid crowd and it was a pair of Smith Athletes that stood out above the rest.

In the ladies division, Claudia Bouvier continued her amazing season with a win on the powder caked venue. One month ago Claudia was sending 900's in the slopestyle event at the Dew Tour, and just two weeks ago she came away with the win at the Telluride FWT Tour Qualifier. Claudia's versatility was on display once again at Crested Butte where she flashed a high speed line and stomped her way down some pillows to take the win.

For the men, it was Smith Athlete Griffin Post that dominated the field by leading after each day and taking that momentum into the finals where his high speed, technical run was punctuated by a straightline to 30 footer that Griff stomped like the champ he is.

After the comp, Griff said he “skied that shit like it owed me money.” With $23,000 in total prize money, the event paid up and both Griff and Claudia took home the lion's share of the winnings. Congrats!
