Mont-Tremblant, September 23rd, 2008 - The results of SKI Magazine’s 21st annual survey are out in the October issue that hits the stands today and Tremblant is once again on top of Eastern resorts. It’s the 12th year in a row that the readers vote Tremblant the #1 ski resort in Eastern North America. For a 13th time since 1996, the outstanding experience of Tremblant, both on-mountain and in its unique pedestrian village, operated its charm on the respondents to the survey.

#1 for accommodation in North America

Tremblant also took first place in North America for its accommodation (Les Suites Tremblant, Lespri Tremblant, Fairmont Tremblant, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Marriott Residence Inn), as well as coming in first in the East in the categories “On-mountain food”, “Dining” and “Service”. The legendary après-ski in the village continues to be thoroughly enjoyed by skiers: it was voted second in the East, the same ranking as for general satisfaction.

“We are very proud of the results, and the voice of the skiers bears out our efforts to always do things in a way that means that our guests have a memorable experience both on the mountain and in the village,” says a delighted Charles Massicotte, President and Resort Chief for Tremblant-Intrawest.

Tremblant-Intrawest, in its ongoing quest for improvements in order to exceed guest expectations, has purchased two new grooming machines this year, a Bison and a Bison X by Prinoth, which will allow the resort to provide skiers with perfect conditions every morning. The 6-kilometre-long Nansen trail has also been enhanced and will offer better snow conditions thanks to improvement in the snow-making system. The Nansen, which is the Resort’s longest trail and the favourite of beginners, has also been widened in several places, which will facilitate skier traffic and make the trail even safer.

On the Versant Soleil side

The Versant Soleil development continues, with the opening in summer 2009 of the Mont-Tremblant Casino, a first for a Canadian ski resort. The opening will coincide with the opening of the village-to-village gondola that will link Versant Soleil with the Versant Sud, the original South Side. And finally, in order to facilitate access by ski trail to the new village, construction of a new beginner trail running from the summit to the Versant Soleil base will begin this season, opening for the 2009 – 2010 Winter.

Events all season long

Again this year, Tremblant will kick off the season with early winter’s hottest event, the 24 hours of Tremblant. More than 1,000 skiers and riders will take to the slopes during the 24 consecutive hours, attempting to repeat last year’s extraordinary feat of raising $1 million for sick and underprivileged children. A number of other events will punctuate winter right up to the TELUS Spin – the event that winds up the spring season with the best spring skiing, high-level competitions, free concerts and shows plus ongoing entertainment and parties in the pedestrian village.
