Snow Making Commences at Snow Park NZ

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand (June 2, 2010) – Snow Park NZ officially started winter operations with the commencement of pre-season snowmaking last night.

Coupled with a blanket of natural snow and sub-zero temperatures, the snow guns ignited at 8pm last night.

“This is the earliest we’ve ever turned our snowmaking system on,” said Sam Lee, Snow Park NZ Operations Manager. “These cold temperatures will allow us to continue our snowmaking offering guests access to a wide variety of terrain from the first day of the season.”

Complimenting the early snowmaking is the arrival of the the newly purchased Global Cutter - a New Zealand designed Olympic standard 22ft halfpipe cutter. The Global Cutter will allow the halfpipe to open even earlier than years before.

“The Global Cutter requires less snow, meaning that the pipe can open earlier and for more days during the season.” said Lee.

The 22ft halfpipe is scheduled to be running on opening day.

Over the past summer, guns have been repositioned to cover more terrain including an increased focus on the halfpipe as well as on the new learner’s area, providing first class conditions for those learning to ski and snowboard this year.

Snow Park NZ opens to the public from June 26th to October 2nd, 2010.

Pre-season passes are available for purchase on the Snow Park NZ website http://www.snowparknz.com. Snow Park’s pre-season sale closes on the 10th June, 2010.
