If you were here on Ski Union about a week ago you will have seen this article about Simon Dumont breaking the halfpipe. I did say I’d post up any more news that I found out about it so here we are – and this time I’ve got video footage! Here’s what Red Bull had to say about it: “What happens when you take a perfectly good Olympic sized halfpipe, then cut half of it out? The answer is the Red Bull Cubed Pipe. Dreamt up by professional skier and world record holder for highest air on a quarterpipe, Simon Dumont’s idea was given wings this week after years of planning. What began as a 22-foot tall, 550-foot long halfpipe turned into a series of take-off and landing areas with nothing else in between, lowering the margin of error for Dumont’s world famous big airs and tricks to zero. Built by Snow Park Technologies, the “Cubed Pipe” features 10 individual cubes and took over 720 hours to complete.”Makes me wonder if Red Bull are trying to make this the ski version of Shaun White’s Project X?More Ski Videos >>Related posts:Red Bull: Linecatcher 2011 Red Bull’s Linecatcher is back for the third year and...Red Bull Playstreets 2011 After a two year break Red Bull Playstreets returned to...Red Bull Linecatcher 2011 – UPDATED WITH VIDEO!
