Winter 2002/2003

BRETTON WOODS, NH – When Bretton Woods’ West Mountain opened in 1999, the ski resort, renowned for its perfectly maintained natural trails, premiered its first double black-diamond terrain. Then came the thrills of Rosebrook Canyon – a sprinkling of more double black-diamond glades sparkling amid the trees. Now comes the Accelerator Terrain Park and Halfpipe, meeting the same standards of excellence and excitement that Bretton Woods loyalists expect from New Hampshire’s largest ski area.

Whether it’s skis, boards or blades, all are welcome in the new Accelerator Park and Pipe located on the Bretton’s Wood trail. In addition to a professionally groomed pipe, amplitude seekers will find tables, gap jumps, rails, and whatever else the resort’s newest groomer attachment– the Pipe Magician – can contrive. This patented grooming tool is the latest invention of Pisten Bully, the German manufacturer with a line of groomers that are the demand for worldwide FIS and World Cup events.

The brand new Pipe Magician looks like it’s from another planet. Long, flexible, articulated arms extend more than 20 feet to either side. They can shape snow into perfectly straight pipes or carve amazing elements – just about any edgy configuration your board can handle. There will be plenty of snow for the Magician to play with because the terrain park is being covered by an array of new HKD snowmaking tower guns that extend from snowmaking pipes that run up either side of the newly widened trail.

The Accelerator Terrain Park with its Pipe Magician will make your visit to Bretton Woods even more rider-friendly this winter. Both park and pipe are a reminder that Bretton Woods is committed to providing the best facilities for snow carvers of all abilities. But, of course, skiers and riders are welcome on every part of Bretton WoodsÂ’ 375 skiable acres.
