Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar replying questions in the House on Friday said that WAPDA has been assigned the task to construct 32 small and medium dams in two phases. Similarly initial work has also been launched on Diamir Bhasha Dam which will generate over 4000 megawatt of electricity. He said work is in progress on Allai Khorr, Dabir Khorr and Golain Gole Dams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which will generate 388 megawatt electricity. To a question Syed Naveed Qamar said India has constructed 43 hydro power projects under the Indus Basin Treaty on the basis of run of river on three Pakistani Rivers Sindh, Chenab and Jhelum. He said India is completing on average two dams on these Rivers annually. Minister incharge for Cabinet Division Dr. Fairdous Ashiq Awan informed the House that first ever nationwide Poverty Scorecard Targeting Survey is underway throughout the country which will be completed by June this year. After completion of this survey all deserving families will be entitled to get one thousand rupees cash grant per month under the Benazir Income Support Programme.
