K2 Skis, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012, today unveiled its 2013 K2 Ski Boot development project. Although the project was just announced, the development of a K2 branded boot has been in the works and kept quiet for the past 24 months.

The K2 Ski Boot will be a welcomed addition to the brand, but premium footwear is nothing new to K2 Sports. With over 25-years of experience building comfortable, performance-oriented K2 Snowboarding boots, Madshus cross country and Nordic boots, K2 inline skates, premium Zoot Sports triathlon footwear, and three-piece ski boots through sister brand Full Tilt, the foundation for the development project is well established and thriving. Additional resources have also been added in engineering project management, development and computer aided design.

“K2 is in the business of serious fun,” said Anthony De Rocco, K2 Sports president and CEO. “Our success is based on consistently providing innovative product that makes skiing more fun and approachable for a wider variety of participants. It all starts with the comfort and performance of ski boots. K2 has consistently been the game-changer in every technical footwear category we’ve entered. Our boots will be no exception.”

The comprehensive 2013/14 K2 Ski Boot collection will be unveiled to the media and dealers at special launch events and the SIA and ISPO trade shows in late 2012 and January 2013. It will be available at retail later that year. Look for updates and additional information on the K2 Ski Boot project leading up to the launch and keep your eyes open this winter for the K2 athletes and test crew putting the various boots through the paces.
