Crested Butte, CO, January 8, 2009 –Crested Butte launched this season’s DC Superpipe today! With the opening of the brand new DC Superpipe at over 300 feet long and 17 feet deep, Crested Butte Mountain Resort has put the finishing touches on this season’s vastly enhanced park & pipe terrain. In addition to the freshly cut pipe, skiers and riders can enjoy three unique parks featuring terrain for all levels of freestyle enthusiasts. And126 inches of snow in December means conditions are on par with last year’s epic season - total snowfall so far is over 154 inches!

“We have new beginner features that are great for everyone,” says Christian Robertson, Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s Mountain Sports Assistant Director. “The features were focused on intermediate and advanced riders, but now we are very well rounded for people wanting to learn and have fun. A tremendous amount of resources go into the construction of this freestyle terrain.”

Thanks to a multi-year partnership between DC and Crested Butte Mountain Resort, significant improvements and investments in terrain and features for park & pipe show the commitment to come together creating the best riding scene Crested Butte has ever had. Robertson adds, “Our park, pipe, and freeride terrain combination is totally unique. A rider can drop in on the Headwall and ride steep natural terrain with cliffs and trees then continue the same fall line to the DC Superpipe and Canaan Park.”

100% of all beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs are open, and currently 60% of the world-famous extreme terrain is open. Additional openings are to be determined based on the Snow Safety Team’s assessments, conditions, and snowfall.
