Mother Nature turns Blue Mountain White! The sky has opened and the snow is starting to fall! With the first dusting of snow on the mountain and below zero temperatures in the long term forecast, Blue Mountain is excited to announce that Thursday, December 8th, 2005 will mark the tentative opening day of Blue Mountain’s 65th season! When the lifts start moving on December 8th at 9:00 am skiers and snowboarders will have until 4:30 pm to enjoy Blue in white. From season opening until December 14th, day visitors can take advantage of specially priced early season day ticket for $33 + GST! The night skiing season is scheduled to begin one week later on Thursday, December 15th and will give visitors to Blue Mountain the opportunity to ride under the lights until 10:00 pm. With winter weather on the way, the renowned Blue Mountain snowmaking team along with the forty new high-temperature snowmaking guns added to the resorts state-of-the-art system will be working hard to get all 34 of Blue’s trails open for the 2005/2006 season as soon as possible. In addition to upgraded snowmaking, Blue Mountain has made several other changes to improve the on-hill experience. The historic Big Baby triple chair has been retired to make way for a new four-person chair. Novice skiers will now enjoy fewer stops and increased uphill capacity. And removing lift towers means improved beginner ski terrain and access to Marijane’s Lane. With an ongoing commitment to keeping Blue Mountain’s 34 trails in the best condition, a new BR 350 has been added to the fleet of grooming vehicles that take care of the slopes at Blue. Always changing, the Village at Blue Mountain saw several changes over the green season. The new 11.5 million dollar Village at Blue Mountain Conference Centre opened its doors this fall. This dedicated conference space is the ideal setting for larger groups and associations, and offers four season recreation options at its doorstep. Also new in the Village at Blue Mountain is the Westin Trillium House, this flag ship hotel is also the home to the village’s newest eatery - Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill. If guests are in need of a warmer approach to winter, they will be pleased with the introduction of the new Plunge! Aqua Centre, scheduled to open its doors early in the new year. Plunge! will feature pools, hot tubs, docks and slides to provide year round fun to guests at Blue Mountain.
