Åre is gearing up for one of the world’s most spectacular ski competitions

5 – 17 April: Jon Olsson Super Sessions and Jon Olsson Invitational

Over a period of two April weeks, riders of the international skiing elite will compete to produce the best ski film within the framework of Jon Olsson Super Sessions in Åre. The biggest news this year is that also rookies have the possibility to qualify for the competition via the web. In addition to this event, the popular show competition Jon Olsson Invitational will take place on 15 April.

Jon Olsson Super Sessions

The film and photo competition Jon Olsson Super Sessions (JOSS) will take place during the period 5-17 April, this time for the third year running. Over the 11-day period, seven teams consisting of five persons, two professional riders, two film-makers and one ‘rookie’ having qualified via the web, shall aim to capture the best ski jumps and gather material for the best and most entertaining five-minute film. At the disposal of the teams is Mount Åreskutan with five specially designed jumps. The competition concludes with JOSS Awards – a gala night during which all the films are screened and the winner is announced.

Jon Olsson Invitational

On 15 April at 19.00 the Jon Olsson Invitational (JOI) will be staged, featuring 30 of the world’s best freerider skiers competing to perform the best jump. Admission to JOI is free for the spectators and will be staged in the piste Slalombacken in central Åre.
