PRESS RELEASE: HIGH FIVES FOUNDATION

ANNOUNCING THE INAUGURAL RETRO SHRED-A-THON AT COPPER MOUNTAIN RESORT COPPER, CO HOSTED BY THE HIGH FIVES FOUNDATION

Shred-A-Thon participants lap the American Eagle lift while raising funds for injured athletes.

(Copper, Colo. March 16, 2016) -- On Sunday, April 17, 2016, the High Fives Foundation will travel to Colorado to host the inaugural Retro Shred-A-thon at Copper Mountain Resort. The event is presented in conjunction with partners GoPro, Smith, FlyLow, Volkl, Marker and Phunkshun Wear.

Shred-A-Thon’ participants will spend the day lapping the American Eagle lift as many times as possible with friends, while wearing their best retro ski gear -- one-piece snowsuits, skinny skis, retro snowboards, and other flashy throwbacks.

"Shred-A-Thon fundraising events like these are the most successful for the Foundation, and this is our first one in Colorado," says Executive Director, Roy Tuscany of High Fives Foundation. "We truly combine the goals of FUN and raising funds for the organization in these events, so bringing one to Colorado is so exciting."

Copper Mountain Resort will be offering discounted lift tickets at $45 to those participating in the event. High Fives partner, Phunkshun Wear, will donate a percentage of their sales to the organization for every facemask sold at the event.

“Shred-A-Thon events have been a staple of the fundraising efforts the High Fives Foundation puts on across both the East and West Coasts, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring the inaugural Colorado stop to Copper Mountain,” said Jay Badgley, CEO of Phunkshun Wear masks. “I can’t think of a better place to engage the public while enjoying a perfect spring day on the slopes than Copper Mountain."
