Diagrams of the halfpipe facilities for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games have been released. The measurements of the impressive structure are 180m long, 20m wide, 7m deep.
The venue for the Olympic debut of ski halfpipe, as well as for the relatively veteran event of snowboard pipe competition, the Sochi Games halfpipe stands180m long, 20m wide, and with walls standing 7m above the flat bottom. The pipe is situated in the HAM (halfpipe-aerials-moguls) Stadium section of the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park, on Rosa Khutor resort above the town of Krasnaya Polyana, approximately 45 minutes north of Sochi.
Halfpipe snowboarding has been a marquee event at the Winter Olympic Games since its debut in 1998, and ski halfpipe promises to be just as enticing to a worldwide audience. With some of the most charismatic athletes in snow sports showcasing some of the most incredible things possible on four edges, the Sochi 2014 halfpipe competition is going to be one not to be missed.
The ladies' Snowbaord halfpipe finals will be held on February 11, while the men's will be held on February 12. For Freestyle skiing halfpipe, the finals will be held on February 20 for the ladies and February 18 for the men.
