18-Year-Old Elwyn Roy Freeman died in Argentina yesterday after a crash during the Freeride World Tour Qualifier 2* in La Hoya, Argentina. It's being reported that Freeman collided with rocks in his fall, causing him severe chest injuries, and he passed away in the hospital after the crash.

He was a local, from the neighboring town of Trevelin, Argentina. La Hoya is located about 4 hours south of Bariloche, Argentina- a popular ski destination in South America.

La Hoya Ski Centre released a statement following the event:

"ACCIDENTE EN EL FREERIDE WORLD QUALIFIER

El presente comunicado tiene por objeto brindar nuestras más sentidas condolencias a la familia de Elwyn Roy Freeman, quien falleciera esta tarde en el Hospital de Esquel, a raíz de las lesiones ocasionadas por una caída accidental durante la competencia del circuito Freeride World Qualifier, que tuvo lugar en el cerro.
