i just saw them live. i used to think they were good recorded, but you dont realize how good the music is untill its live. they had so much energy onstage, and gets teh audience real into. let me start with each muusican and explain what they did.
victor victor victor, the bassist: well, if he did'nt take any solos, i still would have been impressed, but he did take solos. every song. he played one solo with all muted notes, and still made it sound good. one solo with all harmonics, sounded awesome. he was the only one out on the stage at one point and just stood their and solod for 10 minutes. he also spun the bass around his neck a couple times during his solo.
the saxaphone player: amazing musiciian. he would solo for so long, doing the most complicated solos. i would have been impressed with just one saxaphone. but no, he decided to play 2 saxaphones at the same time for a couple of songs. and play hard solos on each sax at the same time. he played the flute for a while too.
drummer: many would think he was'nt special. he played the 'drumitar' he amde himself. someone else can explain it. he played really hard african beats and took some great solos. he was an amazing part of the band, but if you did'nt listen closley you would'nt think so.
Bela flekc, the banjo: all the other musicians talents kinda drown out this guy. but he is amazing. doing long and amazing solos on his banjos. i especially liked when the drummer would make noises with his voice, and then bela would imitate it perfectly on the banjo.
him and victor also did cool call and response. one time while doing it, bela hit victors bass, then victor hit belas banjo. they were hitting each others instruments after each little solo they played. then victor started 'the adams family song' and bela hit his bass to make the 'thump thump' they did that for a while.
anoterh guest trumpet player played for 2 songs who was amazing.
overall they were so awesome in concert. if you dont even like their type of music, but play an instrument, and are apresiactive of logn solos you would like this. anyone who loves music would like these guys LIVE that is.
theres a natural mystic flowing through the air if you listen carefully now you will hear. its the first trumpet calling. might as well be the last. many more will have to suffer many more will have to die dont ask me why. things are not the way they used to be.
