yeh, whats the deal

i don't think anybody on kazaa or anything else are gonna upload a whole movie cause they are too lazy, plus there are a lot more skateboard movies. prices are lower. if ppl put ski movies online then nobody will buy them. and if nobody buys them, then the film companies will go bankrupt. so i don't think we really want them online.

Yea this thread has come up before. The skate industry has soooooo much money its ridiculous. If you've ever heard of kerry getz, he's just a regular street skater (fricken awesome top of the sport though) and he doesn't compete a whole lot but he owns a lexus, souped up bmw z3, and something else really expensive. People poaching some videos online don't hurt the industry really. And besides most skaters still buy videos anyway. Newschool skiing productions don't have that kind of money to be alright and depend on revenue from movies, especially the indie producers like iberg, levin, and berman.

yeah that is the exact reason that they arent available for download. you should check out solidpowder.com they have the sickest idea going and i hope a few more follow their lead.

i dont think that skiing has that much popularity for comp nerds to rip off ski movies

Well to say we are a poor sport is drastic. But, not as well funded and popular as skateboarding, true. It's not on Kazaa because nobody has taken the time to encode a video into div-x, mpeg or mov etc. Even with a super fast proccessor it takes a long time to encode a flick. Also, most ski videos up until last year were VHS, which is even more of a pain in the ass because in order to encode a vhs you have to have a tv card and the right connection to your computer. Now that DVD's are coming out and more and more people have DVD in their computer, and the growth of our sport, I'd expect you'll be able to find atleast one or two vids on Kazaa this fall. For the sake of the industry, I hope not. But, it is innevitable. On the other hand, it's not going to crumble a whole production company.

So heres an idea. Buy the vid first, and then if you want a copy on your comp download it.

Hmm.. Actually i have some good software that came w/ my vid in card, and could export a full vid in about an hour or a little bit less from vhs, but it would be evil for the current state of the industry.

would be even easier now videos come on vcd, you just copy and paste them into your kazaa file and evryone gets them. skiing is one of the most expensive sports out there.

i made this post.....and after hearing a few peoples responses i think we should definetly NOT put videos on kazaa or anything else.
