buttering

this has been discussed a shitload but butterign is beign talked about a lot in the threads about the new skis. I have seen one person ever in person pull a nice looking butter onto a rail, yet people seem to be making the ability for a ski to butter well a really big factor when picking skis. What they are really saying is, the ski has a soft flex. All this buttering shit is making me mad, it only look good while done right and most peopel don't do it right, they do reverts and then end up with an ugly jump onto the rail/box. Lets do all of ourselves a favour and stop listing butter ability as a pro for a ski. Even the pros don't butter often. In all the movies I've seen and and the comps, there are not very many butters, they mess with flow and don't look that great.

well you can still just butter around all the time and just fool around and stuff, I think most people do that.

i think its way more fun to butter around on the runs than onto a rail.. buttering off rails is really fun though

i agree that buttering is fun, just messing around on stuff, but i also think that it shouldnt be such a big factor in skis. there are more important things i would look for in a ski personally.


ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

i don't know that that many people buy skis solely on their buttering abilities, i think it's just a bonus

i still have no idea what a butter is. one guy showed me but all he did was turn around before a rail and then jump on it. i do not think that looked very cool.

I didnt really understand your post but I think what you were trying to ask was what skis should you buy for butters. I would recomend the fujatives but you should check out the threads about new skis alot of them will tell you if their good for butters. pretty much a soft ski will make butters easier. I do agree with you when you say that all the pros are doing them and they do add to the overall flow of your run in competitions and movies.

How do you butter off of a rail? I don';t think that would work at all... You couldn't put enough pressure on your ski tips or tails while you are sliding on the rail. Duh, come on.

uhmmmm, butter. you've never seen a good butter? you must all be the people hating on heed. pressing skis on snow or boxes is the sickest aspect of park riding.go ahead, make fun of the kid reverting before the jump, by the end of the season he will school you. ill post some good butter if needed.

the skis arent made just to butter. tail presses and nose presses to. i go tthe fujatives and its not like there soft to the point where u can butter whenever, it doesnt affect the skis at all really just when u try ot butter you can a little easier, so why not get them? and when there 200 bucks like i got mine why not? and buttering is fun as hell, its another aspect

^you used to have PEs. I actualyl have fugatives too. And a stiffer ski is better for presses. he reason I made this ski was I was reading a bunch of threads about 'what ski should I get', and people are respondign saying 'Get such and such a ski ebcause it is good for buttering'

hell yeah, im riding fujis and i call them flat tires. ican nose butter them to the point they look broken. ive been learning how to butter for distance, like start pressing 10 feet before the lip and then pop.

see i bought fugis for the softness because im light, but buttering is just kind of a nifty perk to toy around with

i think it would be fun to screw around buttering skis like fujatives, but i definitely do not want to be riding skis made for butters when im ducking ropes and going fast.

i dunno about you but i butter on my public enemies almost every run, even out of the park, when i want to ride switch i butter a 180, when i come up to a lip in the hill i ollie off it, so for me buttering ability would account for about 10% of my reason to buy a new pair of sticks

It was mandatory that we stoped in a skate shop in Tokyo so Bibby could by a sweatshirt. He also bought neck chains one with a Cadillac logo and the other one a cross. He was looking real ghetto until he saw two black people and removed them automatically because he was scared to get beat up.

it seems like this stage of life for a lot of people around our age is like when you are playing a video game and you beat the Final Boss, only to find out that was just a decoy Final Boss and the real Final Boss is about 50x harder. and on top of that, you used all your special tricks to beat the Decoy, and you are also low on life. and you have a crappy third party controller.

99% of kids cant butter, they cant turn around on the snow then hop on a rail. it really just doesnt work. theyre fun on flat, but a ski made for it just means softer, which means worse out of the park, so im not into it, id rather have a ski that i can ski instead of a noodle i can spin around on the ground with.

i can kinda do i butter but only a 180 not like rainville where he can do a CRAzy 360 butter. it's werid to get the motion. just pop a little not enough to get totally airbourne and turn your shoulders and look behind you.

I liked the Fujitives, really easy to butter on because they are so flexy, but they carved on nice on the groom! And that made them pretty cool.
