why do east coast parks...

why do they have spray paint on the lips and on other parts of the jumps? in mammoth they never have anything like that.

Because east coast skiers suck ass and are pussies, they need little spray paint snow to help them jump.
I think it's so it's easier to spot your landing when it's foggy, they did that in steamboat when i went there. i don't know why they don't do it in mammoth.

Some resorts have it in their insurance policy that any hazards or potentialy hazardous and injurous elements must be visually marked. Some resorts place those small 'lollipop' markers on the lips, some spraypaint them. Why should you really care?

if they r going to tag the jumps they should paint wiked pics on them. get some graffity artist to pain some cool skiing picks on there.

it's for flat light, foggy, and anything else that makes it hard to see (snowstorm for example). it's a hell of a lot easier to hit a jump in a snowstorm if you can see the take off.... some resorts put circles on the landing so you can see the landing too.
we all can't be like mammoth and have sunny days all the time.

Yea he said it, flat light definitely, and all those other crappy visual conditions. Yea and the insurance thing, at my hill they put the patroller bamboos on the sides of the lips... sucks if the lip is small in girth (hahah I said girth) and you have to be careful not to clip it when you spin off the lip.

What mike and grav said. When you have flat light and days where you can't tell the lip from the sky when you're standing on the in-run, a little color gives you some perspective of what the hell you're about to hit.

at sunday rivers showdown to throwdown they spray painted a skull on the big air jump.

you might be able to see it in this years first issue of freeskier somewhere in there.










theres a natural mystic flowing through the air if you listen carefully now you will hear. its the first trumpet calling. might as well be the last. many more will have to suffer many more will have to die dont ask me why. things are not the way they used to be.

At Tremblant they spraypainted the length of the jump right on the take off. Though half the time I think they were totally off, it was still pretty cool.

It's to mark the lip. and for insurance reasons. Anyways, Mammoth does mark their lips. Lots of the tables I've seen in videos and mags have those Mammoth Mountain banners at the lip. Maybe not all, but we don't have much sun here. Lots of flat light and night skiing that makes it harder to see.
