TentI tore my ACL, got it fixed a few weeks ago. Surgeon is telling me there is little to no evidence that a brace can prevent an ACL tear. All they do is make you feel safer in your head.
.Hugo.I dont like relying on braces. Instead strengthen your knee. Always using a brace will just keep it weak
afterbanginnhow could i strengthen it? i do squats and try to do legs at the gym what excersices are good for strengthen it?
.Hugo.Keep strengthening the surrounding muscles like youre doing, dont forget about your hammies. Also dont stop doing your pt exercises. If they get too easy add reps or weight.
Also stretch and do other injury prevention exercises. And always get a good warmup before lifting and skiing
FIRETHECANNONSI dislocated my knee last year a few months before ski season playing soccer. I strengthened it and skied with a brace all of last season and has no issues. Almost a year later I dislocated it again playing soccer. Now my odds of dislocation a third time are about 85%.
I'd like to know if anyone has had multiple dislocations but strengthened hard and prevented any other issues?or after a second dislocation jump to surgery?
