I THINK THAT THE 1 FOOTER WAS A DISGRACE TO FREESKIING AND A BIG STEP FOR AGGRESSIVE INLINE. THE 1 FOOTED GRIND WAS SO GAY THAT IT SHOULDV LOWERED HIS AVERAGE.

THE ONLY DECIDING FACTOR FOR TANNER AND GAGNIER WAS THAT STUPID 1 FOOTER AND THE 1 FOOTER WON.

THIS SHIT WAS ON TV AND WAS A SERIOUS STEP BACK FOR OUR KIND OF SKIING

your a retard tosh....so what if you did a 1 footer on a 20ft rail...tahts small. try doing it on and urban downrail. try doing sw on to backslide. hell try doing a 50 50 to backslide to blindside switchup to frontslide. it gets so techy. skiing progression needs 1 foots. a tailpress is so much easier than a 1 foot. by the way what kind of 1 foot did you do?

how about you do a 270 to nosepress on a downrail, or a nollie lipslide tailpress on a flat down. how about a switch tailbutter 180 to 270 nosepress on a flatbar?

Truth is, you can get really tech on presses and it doesnt look like tapdancing on rails.

Like any other trick, how you do it is what matters. He just lifted up one ski a bit and slid on the other one, it looked smooth. If he would have grabed his boot with one hand and rolled up the window with the other arm, then its a whole different story.

the tricks can definetly be technical, but that doesnt make it look any more cool. Its still is going to look lame.

dude...nollie tailpress, bluntslides or a noseblunt, those are way more technical just to do it, then to put style into is even harder.

any trick done wrong or badly will look like shit. if a bunch of groms in the park make cork 5's look bad does that mean its a gay trick? a backslide done well with the right steez can look good and there doesnt have to be any tapdancing going on. we gotta take all the newer tricks (butters, nose presses/slides, backslides, fastslides etc) and show the rest of the world that skiers have a huge bag of tricks to bring to jibbing.

if ninthward is about drawing a line between skiing and rollerskating, sign me up. haha and props to whoever refered to it as 'tapdancing on rails' its so true.

this whole argument is pretty gay in general though. we're talking about how skiers slide rails as though its some formidable facet of the sport. ski some moguls or powder or what have you. do ollies. whatevs. carve some turns.

I saw a guy do a one-footer when he pulled his ski up and grabbed it. he unoffically called it a lui kang slide. Which i guess sorta makes sense. Didn't look too stylie, but better than a normal one-footer.

here are some other things in skiing that fucking suck, because sucky, stupid, smelly rollerbladers do them:

unnatural tricks;
bomb-drops;
gaps;
grabs;
grinding rails;
handplants;
halfpipe; ...

yeah. FUCK HALFPIPE BECAUSE IT IS JUST SOMETHING THAT FAGGOT ROLLERBLADERS DO. and, while you're at it, FUCK SKIING; BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS THAT SKIERS DO THAT ARE EXTREMELY SIMILAR TO THINGS THAT ROLLERBLADERS DO. AND, THAT IS GAY, BECAUSE THE COOL KIDS AT MY SCHOOL -- THE ONES WHOM I WANT TO BE LIKE -- SAY THAT ROLLERBLADING IS NOT COOL.

also, maybe another deciding factor for gagnier was that, rather than dragging his hand on the landing, he stomped his HUGE SWITCH 1080 TAIL GRAB at the end of his run. having a clean run is important -- even if you're tanner. fuck, i think that jon should have been in second.

now i didn't see either of the runs but i can pretty much conclude that in the rail part of the course Tanner did win, yet unfortunately a slopestyle takes the riders through the WHOLE PARK. From the previous readings i could tell that Charles had a better over-all run. So i think that Gagneir deserved to win.

And as much as the 1-footed rail isn't very hard i can see alot of variations coming from it in the future so don't bring it down to hard. And don't forget that people like DAVE CRICHTON made the 1 foot grind look sweet in 'ready fire aim'.

Don't stop a new idea in it's path because something kickass could come from it.

I still maintain that the sport that in most likelihood had the first member slide a rail of some sort is skiing merely because of its age. That being said, I'm a big fan of 5050s, the others arent bad either.

I have just one thing to say,,,,,Who invented the flat spin?? Anybody know??? It's Jonathan Bergeron ....He won a gold medal in rollerblade a couple year ago . He was the first ever (any sport) to do a flat spin...so tanner is probably gay because he's able to do alley oop flat spin in the pipe. You know what..Tanner buy the Dealy bread ( rollerblade magazine) every month. You don't trust me ???Tell Jp auclair about that.

So Tosh practice yourself to be the best and don't try flat spin it's gay.

well, i disagree on everything you say, except for rollerblade influence. what your saying is that progression should be limited, i cant see how thats good. its one thing to have some emphasis on presses and shit, but theres more than just that... and you say that you know from experience theyre easy? well your full of shit. try it in a comp setting like the x games on a handrail such as it is, you will eat your words. charles made it look rather easy, but its not
