RparrLol omg people crying racism? Pretty sure it's a fact that not many black people ski. how in the fuck is the fact that not many black people ski racist?
It's not racist to point out that not many skiers are black. One must just be careful when wording their race-oriented questions and responses. Obviously not many black people ski.
Let me ask you this - would it sound a little weird if I said, out of the blue, (so like in a new thread, for example), "not many white people ski"? I would say so, even though it's true. By saying "not many" implies the assumption that most people think most white people ski, which is false. Most white people have never skied a day in their life. So to say "not many black people ski" says the same thing. The difference is that virtually everyone knows most black people don't ski, so it doesn't sound as weird.
Asking "Do black people ski?" has a racist undertone to it. It assumes that you think no black people do - even though OP knew that some do, judging by his second question. It's no KKK or Jim Crow shit, but it is prejudiced. A better way to have asked the question would be something like "How many skiers are black?" If OP had asked "Do any white people not ski?", plenty of white people (especially if it were not posted on this site) would be up in arms about how OP assumed white people are all wealthy and live in cold climates - it's a stereotype. And stereotypes are bad to make, period.
At the end of the day, just don't fucking put all of the people in one race in a category that has nothing to do with race. It's not that hard.
If people put half the effort that they put into dismissing being called a racist into slightly adjusting their wording, racial equality would be here in no time. Sorry for the rant. I'm not trying to start any arguments or offend anyone - just trying to show some respect.
