50KalIf your getting into the Backcountry whether it's via heli or touring consider getting avi gear and taking avi courses (more important). A fatter ski would help if your hitting deep snow a lot.
Almost sounds like you should just get into touring. Cheaper in the long run, and once you have the gear you can go when ever conditions allow. It might seem a little expensive once you start but the gear last awhile if you take care of it.
Not to say you shouldn't go heli skiing. Heliskiing would be sick as well.
While were talking about NZ should I be spend this coming season in Queenstown or Wanaka?
