About edges and rails

My edges are pretty finished, I've been wondering if there is a point when your edges can get so dull that it effects your ability to grip rails

Is this true at all?

Gripping a rail in order to do spins out does not require sharp edges. It is the angle and pressure of your skis against the rail that does the gripping. However if the edges are so far ground down that it is the base of the ski sliding the rail, It can even become sticky.

It really won't hurt to have completely rounded edges for rails. You might want some sharpness at the tips and tails for carving (It helps a ton on icy jumps) But it really makes no difference on rails.

OP you're fine with no edges at all. I ride on some ON3P Filthy Riches with basically hardly any edge left on the ski (especially on the underfoot). Actually it makes it easier to slide with no edges (less friction, metal on metal)... It just sucks when it comes to things like icy lips (especially on jumps).
