AnesteeziaLately I've noticed a strong tension between my dad and I. He seems fed up with how different I am than him, and I am fed up with his bad attitude and the way he talks about my mom.
He talks about her like she is useless, so I finally called him out on it. I told him she wasn't doing anything wrong. My relationship with him has been shit ever since. We don't fight, but we disagree on everything and try to be different.
I feel like its an authority thing. Maybe fathers just feel like they always have to be better than their son? They can't be proved wrong? I researched it a bit and read an article about how young men can act as a threat to their father and it just creates a silent battle between the two. It is in our blood, we want to be the leader.
Have any of you had bad relationships with Dad's like this?
Sno.Dad's don't like it when you question their authority--fall in line, son.
How does he disrespect your mom, though? What has he said or done to her?
