Any other park skiers hate soft skis?

I seriously don't like soft park skis. I know a ton of people that will buy a ski based on its flex. Nothing else. Why are so many people obsessed with soft skis?

easier to butter and press, personally i like a mid ski, so ur not landing on a unflexing piece of wood and instead have some give to it. also i think landing tail heavy is another reason soft skis are wanted by some skiers cause they land tail heavy simple as that.

I love a soft ski because I suck at skiing but doing butters and presses make me look amazing. And looking amazing gets girl.

stiff skis, butters just take a little extra oomph. but you can also get a ridiculous amount of pop off them. just be sure to crank up the dins on your heel.

I prefer a pair of 2 X 4's with the ski boots drilled into them. It is truly the highest performing setup.

I like a fat soft park ski. It's buttery but the fatness makes it less squirrelly at high speeds.

I prefer a soft-medium flex ski in the park, but I like my big mountain ski to be stiff as a board so I can really push it.

I like noodles cause I'm in Michigan and we don't have jumps bigger than 30 ft anywhere. Theyre just more fun IMO, and I don't need a ski that can handle big jumps

Soft skis can be fun but for the park a stiffer ski will just allow you to boost way more. Stiffer skis have way more pop so if your skiing a larger park an at higher speeds a stiffer ski just makes more sense. So long as you arestrong you can still butter and I actual prefer buttering and pushing into a stiffer ski as you can go further without washing out. Small hike rails parks will prob be more fun on a softer ski but if your hitting bigger stuff try a stiffer ski.

easy butters are a whole new realm of tricks that can only be discovered by soft skis. that being said, the ideal situation for me would to bring up 2 pairs of skis with me. one soft pair for jibbing and one stiff pair for jumping.

Ya and I don't like rocker skis either I love ar7s and Thalls medium to stiff with full camber

I've had both and it really depends on what you're skiing - I find soft skis are really nice on rails and for doing butters, I find they're a lot more playful and good for smaller hills. Stiffer skis I found are way better on big features because you have a lot more stability and hold up better at high speeds.

Uhhhh what? If you are landing tail heavy you want a stiff ski.

I think a lot of skiers like soft skis because they sound more fun, and they have never tried a stiff ski. That is how I used to be anyways.

the chronics are perfect. They have enough stiffness to boost 80 foot jumps, but they are also soft enough for steezy ass butters

If you want a soft ski to boost off the big stuff and go pretty fast I would go with the Armada Al Dente or the remained Edollo. They are the same ski just remained from the 2014-2015 season. I personally like soft skis because you look extremely steezey and the girls love it. They are great for those sick butters!! So if you want a soft ski that can still handle under fast speeds I would go with the Armada Al Dente or now named the Edollo.

well sure but they also butter easier. I think it kind of depends on what you want out of a ski no?

I've really only had 1 soft pair and 1 stiff pair, but I preferred the stiff pair because it just seemed like they performed better. They also seemed more lively. But I mean hey I've seen some sick things done with soft skis too so ski whatever you want to.

You like washing out landing tail heavy?

I will say if you get a soft ski and land tail heavy maybe it will teach you to land better so you don't wash out every time

I mean if you land properly and not on your tails you don't wash out. I personally always liked softer skis to a point - big jumps stiffer is nice but riding rail-infested east coast parks soft skis can be pretty great.

agreed the opinion is if you want to be able to butter easier, and are ok with washing out on bigger jumps sometimes, that just wasn't what the other kid was saying.

Skiing a 300ft hill with hot laps calls for a softer ski. There are so many lines and such and it's just more fun. Obviously at a bigger park with actual runs I'd go with a medium flex

I ride stiff skis and they simplye performe perfect on big jumps and rails , I personally don't really get how people think that soft skis are better for rails , i always felt like my stiffer skis worked out better.

Only disadvantage is that nose butter/ buttered corks are way harder to do

Until you ride a lot of skis, you don't really know what you actually like or want in a pair of skis. I've been skiing for 26 years and I'm still searching for that perfect flex. I think I found it in the (2nd gen) Moment Bibby, but when I retired them last year I didn't just buy a new pair of the same ski even though it's the best I've ever skied.

Just because you have a 'best ski ever', doesn't mean that there isn't a better ski out there for you that you just haven't ridden yet.


I've gone through all kinds of different skis - some I love, some I hate - all of them were worth the time/investment. Currently, I am all about a medium/stiff EVEN flex. There are too many skis out there that are stiffer in the middle and get softer towards the nose and tail. I found the (1st gen) Armada JJ's were the worse ski for having such an uneven flex to them.

Bottom line - don't just assume you know what you want/like in a ski. If you can avoid it, never buy the same ski twice, and always pay attention to the details.

I had a pair of skis that were so soft every time I landed a jump I'd wash out. Not only that but they just didn't feel stable at higher speeds. It was like skiing on blades ffs. Needless to say i sold those right quick.
