Heel piece detaching from top sheet

So there is a gap between my heel piece and my top sheet and I can see the screw threads in the gap so it literally looks like it's just coming unscrewed. I've only skied them twice but pretty aggressively so maybe they ripped out? This just seems unlikely but idk what to do, maybe just screw it back In with a power drill?

i would screw it back in with a screwdriver because with a drill it's easy to over tighten and strip the hole or screw. if it doesn't hold and there's still play, take it to the shop and get helicoils put in the holes. that could work if it ripped out or got stripped

yes def not a power drill. just use a screwdriver and tighten them (if you can) but just dont strip the heads of the screws. also what bindings are they?

It isn't the heads you should be worried about, if you tighten the screw too much you will strip the hole and have absolutely zero hold meaning you will need helicoils or another sort of threaded insert (which is what veng_m was talking about).

It is hard to say if they are pulling out since you don't know what it was like before. My guess would be that whoever did the mount didn't realize that they left the gap, either way minimizing the gap would be a good idea if there is any sort of play with your bindings.

If they're pulling out after 2 days it's gonna be one of these 4 things:

-The shop tech was a fucking monkey and didn't mount them flush in the first place, and you only just noticed
-The shop tech was a fucking monkey and installed them with a drill WITHOUT a correctly set clutch, thus massively over-torqueing the screws and probably partially stripping a couple of the holes
-The shop tech was a fucking monkey and drilled the holes too large so the screws aren't gripping
-You ski like an animal, and/or have had a huge crash(es) in those 2 days, and you're ripping them out.

Honestly unless you've had a massive bail I'd be more inclined to suspect one of the first 3. Unless you mounted them yourself, in which case it's definitely number 2.

There is the incredibly unlikely but still possible other option, which is that you've got a dud core.

Even my bindings have a small gap (>1 mm) between my skis and bindings.

I will try to upload some tonight but I think I'm just going to screw it back down and hope for the best
