What are resorts known for?

At Snowbird we are better than you. We go bigger, rip steeper lines, and get super territorial over our powder. Best watch out on the bookends or cirque traverse.

Basically as stated above snowbird is better than you are, and you can only hope to one day be worthy of being a bird skier.

Also Alta is flat as fuck

style_senseiya but squaw doesn't get snow, there park sucks always, and the runs are shorter than mammoth, and they have terrible lift lines. Mammoth's big mtn scene may not be as large as squaw, but the cliffs and steeps are equally intense in my opinion. Plus mammoth stays open almost a month later than squaw

Squaw gets about 400 inches a year of snow. Check the 20 or so years from 2010/2011 and back. Squaw actually gets more snow than Mammoth. The last few years have been a drought, and I would rather ski Mammoth in a drought. But in a normal CA winter, Squaw gets as much or more snow than Mammoth.

Mammoth does have intense steeps, but Squaw's are better. And Squaw has FAR more steep terrain than Mammoth does. I really don't see how they could be considered equally intense.

I skied Squaw 120 days a year for several years after college. I ski Mammoth 2-3 weekends a month now. I skied Mammoth 2-3 weekends a month during college. I love Mammoth, but I miss Squaw. When I was at Squaw I never missed Mammoth.

The lift lines are an issue. When I was living in Tahoe the Squaw passes were expensive and the lines were not all that bad. The cheap passes seem to have screwed everything up.

But to say Squaw wants to be Mammoth is absurd. Unless you are a park rat Squaw is better. I love Mammoth, but if I had the option I would spend my weekends at Squaw, not Mammoth. In a bad year I guess I would prefer Mammoth, but in a normal year I would prefer Squaw.

Big Boulder is 100% park rats, nothing else

lol this, the salt lake crowd gets outrageous there sometimes, its unbelievable. Guilty of blasting past scared tourists on that cirque traverse, though. I had a dude stand on my tails one really quiet, non-busy day because me and my friends didn't let him ride up as a single down in mineral basin, fucking kooky-ass drunk bastard lol. Ive ran into people in some of my favorite spots but they were cool, I remember sharing a doob with some guy that was passing thru, that was neat-o.

But yes, snowbird is a fun place but the "my shit don't stink" vibe is over the top there.



Ill throw in my two pennies:

PCMR - good luck finding parking after 9am, but fun place to spin some laps nonetheless, Jupiter chair holds a special place in my heart and if vail gets rid of it for some high-speed bullshit, ima stop skiing there. Already enough people up there that shouldn't be in the first place

Canyons - goobers in the park, we called pussy cats by some crazy-ass Chilean guy or whatever the fuck south American country he was from. Definitely some of the best terrain in the Park city area though

Solitude - Shhhhhhhhhhh, don't fucking ruin it for them.

Brighton - a nice blend of dirtbags, rippers, and monster-sipping one-weekend-a-year warriors. Epic tree skiing and the best jib setups in the state.

Alta - booters galore

Snowbird - butthole puckering goodness everywhere you look

Snowbasin - nicest shitters your asscheeks will grace

Mt. LaCrosse: 12yo skiers with volkl walls who think they're the best even though they can only 50/50 boxes and ski racer dads who will threaten to kill you if you look at them the wrong way.

Coffee Mill: Open on weekdays for those 2 or 3 people that will show up

Nakiska - Racers & ski dads

Norquay - families

Louise - gapers, ice, park rats, "scrape louise", ice, awesome terrain, most boring village of all time (tm)

Sunshine - gapers, australian snowboarders who think they're way better than they are, whiteouts, soft snow, worst park layout ever, walking for an hour from the back of the parking lot, most hated management

Buck hill: was in small world, Lindsey vonn trained there for 2 years and all the staff claim she skied here her entire life.
