I'm not a red neck so I have no interest in watching competitive bass fishing. that kind of sport is right down with pro bowling, takes some talent but no one cares because fat people do it.

People that fish for bass are far more lazy than those who fish for many other things... Namely ocean fishing and fly fishing. Bass Fishing is so often just trolling around in an overpriced boat, or sitting on the shore with a 30 rack of high life, waiting for a bite.

If you want to name a fishing style that you can do in texas (illegally) that's actually not lazy, talk about Noodlin... that shit's tough as fuck. You could even say fishing for Carp on the Illinois is more hardcore than Bass Fishing, because you can get absolutely wrecked by a silver carp whackin you in the dome.

I grew up on the Sacramento River Delta catching bass and catfish, and have flyfished all over southern Oregon and Northern California. Done oceanic fishing in Humboldt and have done deep lake fishing for maks on Tahoe. Either your Bass fight more wherever you are, or something, but the Bass I've encountered here aren't hard to bring in at all. You don't even have to be delicate with them.

Well theres a reason smallmouth are known as the hardest fighting freshwater fish pound for pound, with spotted bass right up there with it. Take a carp and bass of the same size, the bass will outfight it by 1000x. Hell the 5lbers i catch fight harder than a 25lb carp my friend caught.

I wouldn't say I've caught anything particularly huge, but the fight a bass puts up in my experience isn't something you really have to worry about. Just pull it in and you're good.

I just don't agree. I caught a 21" smallmouth and it fought for under 3 minutes. My cousin caught a 30lbs carp in the same bay and it fought for 30 minutes.

Compare a fight with a 6 lb carp to your probably about 6lb smallie and id be willing to bet all the money i make over my lifetime that the smallie will out fight it

But you can get paid to fish carp...only reason why I fish them...other than that it's salmon and trout for me. Benefits of living on the great lakes...and also bass fishing is pretty Damn enjoyable, even if it's just to chill and relax

Yeah but carp fishing really isn't as big in the US as it is in the UK. I mean it's fun to sit and tan, but bass fishing casting every 30 seconds is pretty enjoyable. Bass fishing is really becoming a big thing with college and highschool teams now, pro bass fishing is on TV a lot more too. FLW/ bassmaster classic/ MLF

Pike are incredibly aggressive and will hit basically anything that moves in the water... easiest fish to catch besides sunfish. It only seems more difficult than bass fishing because there are usually less of them in a lake. But if you know where they are (pretty easy) all you have to do is put a lure near them. If you want an actual challenging fish to catch start musky fishing

They jave razor sharp teeth and multiple times had them bite the line and break it. They fight hard and sometimes breach the water just like bass which can also cause you to lose them. I wouldnt call fishing for them "easy" by any stadard. Just because bass are more picky doesnt make them harder imo.

Buy I agree about muskies. They are also savages. I caught a 14in smallie and had a musky litterally rip it of my line as I was about to land it. Pure savagery.

Well if im fishing for pike im gonna be using braided line, a wire leader, and a powerful baitcasting rod/reel setup where none of that will really matter. Also if you pay attention when you have em on you can stop them from jumping, just like bass. And id say them being more aggressive and less picky definitely makes them easier to catch

Pike are eating machines... They will literally bite anything that moves man, I religiously fish every day year round, I'd like to think I'd know more about angling than you, not trying to sound like a know it all but you're just being a huge douche just because I like Texas and bass fishing? Well all like have razor sharp teeth, that's why you use a wire leader. and chilling in the weeds is a common hunting tactic among them. Use heavier line and cast right at the edge of the weeds. I wouldn't say it is hard to catch pike at all, it's just that it's normally a difference in tactics than most people are used to.

if you wanna talk difficult....try spearfishing for pike. Those motherfuckers lay deep and are hard as hell to see. Skinny targets and quick as hell. It's a fun time getting one.

I told you why.... The warm weather makes the basses growing season pretty much all year long, which is why they're pulling out massive fish every month... Look at the Texas Share-Lunker program for fucks sake... They have many lakes there that have incredible tourism just because of the bass fishing guides.


The deer hunting, incredible. The amount of ranches and open land there is perfect for deer hunting as well as turkeys... That also bring people from all around the world, believe it or not people like the outdoors; hunting and fishing...
