Advice on new skis

LOCATION: Vancouver, season's pass to Whistler
HEIGHT: 6'1"
AGE: 24
WEIGHT: 190lbs

ABILITY LEVEL: Intermediate-Advanced. Just moved to Vancouver though, and I'm improving quickly now that I live close to a mountain. I ski groomers, love moguls, and I like to ski moderately aggressive. I'm looking to get into trees in the next season, and I'm looking for a lot more experience in fresh pow with the goal of tackling the backcountry in the future.

BUDGET: I'm a poor student, so the budget is less than $500 with bindings.

WHAT KIND OF SKI DO YOU WANT:
I'm looking for something that's moderately all-mountain, a ski that'll do well enough on groomers when I ski with my (beginner) friends but that will let me have some fun in the pow/trees/moguls, too. I don't ski park, but I tend to be a bit playful on runs. I enjoy small jumps and skiing switch.

I found a pair of ex-demo 2014 Soul 7s with Axial 3 120 bindings for $350 CAD. They're in like-new condition with some cosmetic scratches on the top sheets. Just curious if this is a good deal, a good ski for Whistler, and a good ski for what I'm hoping to do. If it's a good deal, should I go for the 188 or 180cm?

If not, any other suggestions that I could look into?

Honestly the soul 7's are far from a great ski. Unfortunately with your budget the options are very limited.

Hm, thanks for the bluntness. This is the first time I've purchased a pair of skis on my own. Would you mind giving some general advice then?

I'm riding a fairly old pair of Head XRC 800s (bought in 06' or 07') currently. They're pretty beat up at this point, and they aren't great in powder, which is why I'm looking for a replacement, but I'd rather not throw $350 or $500 on a pair if they're just going to suck. What's a more realistic budget for a future-oriented ski/a model I should look at? If it's something completely infeasible, I might just go for new boots this year (which I was already planning to do), and save up to get decent skis next year.

$500 is very reasonable for a budget. I always by demo skis at the end of the year, and my goal is to never spend over $400.

Okay so really the problem is the ski and the binding budget generally for both you would want around 450-600 american. The best idea is to wait till the end of the season or over the summer and buy some online whenthey are extremely cheap maybe even last years models. The problem with the soul sevens go is they are a very soft and semi unstable ski. So for someone like you who is larger they wouldnt ski that well and be hard to progress on.
Also the problem with buying old demos most of the time they have shitty bindings, this can be solved but requires extra $$
Another option is check out the b/s/t forums here most people are super legit and have some deals.

Found these the other day while searching around, they might be a bit too long and fat for what you want but I heard that they are good on groomers and rip powder.
