i loved skiing all of them, but if i had to pick it would be the dead moneys because they were stiff and i could never manage to flex them(was my first twin tip and i had no idea what a good ski was so maybe my opinion would be different today), the klint primes felt dead, they were pretty old though. and the after bangs because they were slow af
Strange.Journey.i absolutely loved every pair of ninthwards i owned. them being the MXP and True Twin. MXP were so durable and the True Twin s the butteriest ski ive ever been on. REally like my dynastar slicers too RIP

Then they blew up as a brand and thier production value kinda stunk.
But I just got some 186 Wrenegade 112s. Stiff. Fat. Long (for me). Can't wait to destroy every mogul, shrub, cliff, tranny, rock, dirt patch, gaper and the occasional small child in my path. I think they'll out do my old agents.
The Fischer addict stands out for me as a park ski. Nimble on rails, easy to butter, poppy, stiff/damp enough to handle ice, crud and big landings. They were great in bumps, very quick. For a symmetrical park ski with 84 mm waist they perform quite well in powder too.
I used them for 3 seasons then gave them to my brother who promptly snapped one of the tails. I'm 6'0, 190 lbs and used the ski for a pretty much equal mix of park, all mountain and tree skiing.
Powder: 185 Armada ARG - floats in everything. Best pow skis I've ever owned and I still regret not having them. They were just too fat for practicality sake, in reality. The JJ is probably a much more useful ski to me.
Everyday: 186 Blizzard Peacemaker - perfect mix of width and rocker. Not too much of anything. Not the best at anything, but better than most skis in it's category for sure.
Jibbing: Rossignol Scratch FS - like the really old ones from a zillion years ago. noodle city. Narrow. Lightweight. Snappy. Almost too lightweight in the park.
Hardpack/Boilerplate Carving ski: 181 Salomon Crossmax 10. Forgiving, yet edgehold for days. I still take them out for getting pitted AF in corduroy.
Vintage all mountain skis: 170mm Volant Chubb. Dad got me on these instead of Pocket Rockets back in the day and I was kinda upset about it - until I took them in powder and I could actually float. I remember my 13 year old self being so pumped on these bad boys.
I had a pair of those and regret selling them big time. Also wish my hellbents were still mounted. That being said I cant believe nobody has said the salomon rocker 2 108. Best ski I've ever skied. They do everything really good and love to stomp.
Ive said it like 3 times in this thread alone but whatever if you need a orgasmic park ski pipe cleaners only problem is I have to wear a condom skiing or I splooge everywhere when ridding them most fun ski

A lot of skis from say, rossignol and volkl are shit now compared to what they were.
Every fat-ish volkl is fully reversed camber? ugh, they ski like crap in my opinion if youre not in 100% soft snow... It makes sense on their really fat skis, but their midfat shit? It cracks me up when old fucks all jizz when they hear the word "Mantra" when the old one that had camber was FAR more of a ski they should be on. If Volkl didn't have the blindly retarded AARP card fanboying it has, it wouldn't be getting the praise it does year to year...
Rossignols are all so damp and dead feeling, too. The last good skis they used to put out were the S6 and the S3. Other than that the rest of their stuff is mediocre and floppy, or has a stupid shape and material profile. They basically just took the old S7, which was a pretty 'meh' shape, and applied it across their entire freeride line.. They now just have what's basically the old scratch BC and FS line for their twintips. It's really weird.
Hell, i'd even say that a lot of the Lines are pretty meh. The supernaturals and the sickdays are fine.. but are they as good as the old, brutally stiff mothership or the beefy Prophet series? They aren't even twintipped anymore, and they're basically all K2 tech now, which isn't very progressive outside of the shape, really... Even K2 has been wussifying their skis even more. They have patented so much badass tech that works pretty well, but they don't use any of it anymore.
The only big companies I see out there putting out skis that are an improvement, or at least a step in the right direction is Salomon/Atomic. Atomic's shapes are great, they're stiff where they need to be and forgiving where they don't - introducing really cool material profiles, and Salomon's coming out with shit like the Qlab 104 which is as fucking stiff as a fire door. Blizzard and Nordica are doing cool things, but again, they're focusing a little less on the fat pow twins and park skis that we're all into.
Dynastar could also be said to be progressive, but when it comes to freeride stuff that we're interested in, they've definitely downsized in that department just like Rossignol with a single park ski and a single mid-fat with the distorter and slicer. They still make incredible shit elsewhere with the Cham, which is kickass for touring, I feel. Imagine a twin-tipped Cham. With Metal. That would be fucking DOPE.
...Here's the question. Why have just about every company, even those like Armada started going away from twintips for a lot of their lineups? Not everyone hates the tailwash you get, and a lot of people love landing switch in pow (me, and everyone else on this site) Is it because now all of a sudden they need to appeal to the old ass baby boomers again?
Mr.noodle2010 rossignol s3 even though they are more of a powder ski they are still realllllly fun and super soft and buttery, I wish they still make them how they used to

Ive had these skis for a good while. still do, but I don't take them out too much anymore. they were sort of all purpose because they were decently wide, but not like water-ski wide. I could trust them in deep powder and the trees as well as on ice and groomers. Never really took them into the park seriously, but I imagine they would be decent.
I would say Volkl Explosives in 190 (cmh edition) and 4frnt EHP in a 186.
I skied the Explosives during the 5 years I lived in Tahoe and skied Squaw everyday. I was better at skiing at that time than at any other point in my life, so I did my best skiing on them. Now I ski 30-40 days a year and my pow ski, although it is great in windbuff too, is a 4frnt EHP in a 186. I ski them if I am wondering what ski to take out. If it is really firm I take my pm gear Bros but if I have any doubt I take the EHPs. I love the EHP, and I wish it had been around when I lived in Tahoe. I left Tahoe in 2004, when the Spatulas were really the only rockered ski out there. I wish I had modern skis when I lived in Tahoe, that would have been great. I would ski the EHP's over the Explosives, but I did my best skiing on the Explosives because they didn't have skis like the EHP then.
hmmm, ON3P jeronimo proto with double carbon was amazing. really loved my old S5/scratch bc as a park ski that i could take on the rest of the mountain. huge fan of the katana 191s too, though it's more limited than the other two, but a great mix of balls to the wall with control to avoid things or shut it down when i need. pure park ski would be the fischer addict pro, a true jumping machine.
really interested in trying the black ops, seem very similar in shape and flex to my old proto.

so basically that super mellow full rocker that you see was the "fault" of the katana. a ski that sold out on proforms and sold terribly to the general public. it works for that ski in 112 with two sheets of metal in it. the width and big turn radius make up for the stability that's lost with the full reverse. while i wouldn't call the added qualities playful, the reverse makes it much easier to shut down speed in tight spots and maneuver through variable terrain easier than a cambered version would. when you take away any stiffness or width you get the mantra and most of the rest of the volkl 100 and up line, kinda squirrely at speed and while not completely unstable it doesn't give you confidence either. did you ever try the katana? (and not that chattery carbon thing)
