To be honest, this sort of shocked me. While I have been on NS for 4 years with this account, I lurked much longer as I found an account I made back in 2006 that I forgot about. However, during this time I have been a poster more than a contributor seeing as my talents with media-related devices are nonexistent. I guess my rise to "popularity" came from a few threads that have taken off including the Gear Rumors for 2015-2016 thread and the English Premier League for 2014-2015. Or something was messed up. Who knows.
Now, more about myself. I grew up racing on the East Coast and raced until I was 18 when I realized my abilities could not take me to a D1 college program. I came to newschoolers as a posting member soon after, attempting to immerse myself in the ways of NS fashion and ski gear. Unfortunately, FT didn't fit my feet, I didn't enjoy goggles under my helmet, and baggy clothes just made me look fatter than I was at the time. But I stayed, enjoying the community and childish humor, as it was a nice change from the super strict race world. Currently I ski at Stowe until I graduate this spring from UVM. After that, it is a crapshoot for my future mountain.
If there are any members who are being voted on here who have made major contributions to the news/media related parts of the site, please vote for them over me. They play a much more integral role to what makes NS different from any other type of skiing forum, namely that of making NS a skiing media giant. But, if they aren't well, you can vote for me or you can vote for someone else.
tl;dr-Not sure why I am on this list, joined NS after racing ended, vote for someone who contributes more media/news if possible.
I’ll start off saying that I do not have ACL right now and I am 15 years old and my reason for being in the running is probably because of my contribution to Newschoolers’/Turner’s Tell a Friend Tour article as I was the photographer for the Ski Sundown and Butternut stop… I don’t have a lot of posts or popularity but I like to think that my photos are getting more popular
Now I’ll tell you about my season, I started it off at Woodbury ski area, 4th run of the day I tore my ACL, After being misdiagnosed for my injury 2 times within 3 weeks I finally got a MRI and got the results back that it was torn and I thought my season was over before it was even started. I was lucky enough to have an awesome orthopedic surgeon and was told I could postpone surgery and ski with a brace.
Although I am not able to ski park I focus on taking pictures, carving, and skinning uphill…
I have exactly 1 month of my ski season left before I hang up my skis for surgery.
Now back to TAFT, in the past year I have been starting to shoot photos at my home mountain and now shoot even more often due to my knee injury. After stumbling upon BWalmer’s Facebook post stating that NS needed a photographer for the butternut and ski sundown stop, I saw my opportunity and went for it, I had a awesome time taking photos of the TAFT crew and the stoked kids that joined them at both stops, got to meet a lot of awesome people and take some of the best shot of skiing in my life.
I can’t thank newschoolers enough for giving me the opportunity to shoot photos and be an actual part of the community here on NS, as I am in last place and don’t expect to win and never expected to be on this list
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who made my short season the way it is despite my injury.

This is what NS is all about, seeing an opportunity and jumping at it. That's what got me to iF3, got me on the gear review team, and it's part of what's getting me to SIA and a rep job for ON3P. I hope this start gets you even further here, and beyond!
my name is vince and I enjoy all forms of freestyle skiing. i also enjoy posting on newschoolers.com.
I got into the sport a few years ago after being shown a Tom Wallisch edit by a good friend (@silent_giraffe). I decided that skiing looked pretty fun, and proceeded to be a total jerry for my first season (snaking, side jumping, the whole shebang). I joined NS that summer, learning a lot about the sport and how not to suck. After learning the basics the following season, a frontflip seemed like a logical trick to try, as I was too much of a bitch to throw backies. This did not go well:
The following two seasons I just enjoyed life and skiing with my friends. I met tons of new people through skiing and even got a few friends into the sport (shoutout @beefiestexpert^ and @Lieutenant_Dan!). These days, as a HS junior I have more schoolwork and less time for skiing. This has only made me value my skiing days even more, and I've been having the most fun ever this season. Example (copypaste for another thread):
I stopped being a bitch and did my first backflip on skis a couple weeks ago in the morning. It was off a windlip. IT got pretty crowded, so I decided to spend a few hours building a large booter in the sidecountry w/ homies; realized the jump was oriented wrong and we were going to land pretty much flat. Friends were hucking dubs anyway (16" of fresh), I figured it couldnt be too hard, so I sent a few dub backies, two of which were to my feet (landing was too flat to ride away). I usually give more of a fuck, but now I can say I did my first single and dub backs on the same day. uknow I got that vid too, I'm on the Joysticks (brace yourself for hucking):
https://www.newschoolers.com/membervideo/745701.0/DOUBLE-BACKFLIPS?s=166131&c=0&t=6&o=8Quite a contrast to my frontflip attempt I must say. I'll probably try dubs with a landing next time. When it comes down to it, I just enjoy skiing and sharing my passion with people of similar stoke, regardless of skill level. I've been on NS for a few years and it has taught me so much about skiing. I usually just post whatever is on my mind, and I guess people think that is funny sometimes. I'll throw up an edit or some photos every once in a while, but usually we're just having too much fun to bother with a camera. I just found out I'm in the running for this contest thanks to Lieutenant_Dan. If you vote for me I will love you forever, but definitely check out the others too! Vibes to AFRICA and his buddy, I can't even imagine what you guys are going through.
I hope I'm not overstaying my welcome here, so I'll leave you all with a few shots from today (most fun park day of the season!)
