WampireI just got a 6'' dobsonian deep space explorer telescope and holy shit is it awesome. Space is really incredible when you can look deeper into it
theBearJewHow much is something like that? Also look into this coming Monday an asteroid is passing by Earth. They say you can see it with a telescope.
Marcus.Aastronauts can't whistle when theyre in the space suit
theBearJewSo an asteroid is flying by earth tonight. Closest an asteroid has flown to earth, anyone know what direction of the sky to look into?
CliffyByroplease explain
selfiejesus"The most astounding fact, the most astounding fact is the knowledge, that the atoms comprise life on earth; the atoms that pick up the human body, are traceable to the crucibles, that cooked light elements into heavy elements in their core, under extreme temperatures and pressures. These stars, the high mass ones among them, went unstable in their later years. They collapsed and then exploded, scattering their enriched guts, across the galaxy. Guts made of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and all the fundamental ingredients of life itself. These ingredients become part of gas clouds, that condense, collapse, form the next generation of solar systems stars with orbiting planets and those planets now have ingredients for life itself. So that when I look up at the night sky, and I know that yes, we are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up. Many people feel small, because they’re small and the universe is big, but I feel big, because my atoms, came from those stars. There is a level of connectivity. That’s really what you want in life, you want to feel connected, you want to feel relevant. You want to feel like your a participant in the goings on of activities and events around you. That’s precisely what we are, just by being alive. "

There you go. From what I have read it is either an euphoric feeling or the scariest fucking thing in the world. The video talks alot about the euphoric feeling, trying to find some stuff about the scary feeling that astronauts go through.
loomisWe are just atoms trying to understand atoms.
I have a HAM radio, and when the ISS is visible overhead, it is possible to talk to the crew on it. Never tried though.
nochillDid any of you guys know about antimatter. It's the exact equal opposite of matter. There's protrons and anti electrons that are made exactly the same as their counterparts but with a different charge. Also when antimatter and matter come into contact they just explode into PURE ENERGY. NOT JUST EXPLODE BUT TURN INTO PURE ENERGY. But for real think about what we could do if we powered things with antimatter and matter. We already have antimatter on earth that scientists have collected. Or we could make a bomb out if it too. But it also costs a ton of money to get it. But also because of the Big Bang creating an even amount of matter and antimatter that means there might be an entire universe made all of antimatter. So ya antimatter is cool beans.
byuboundAnybody know what happened to dragon launch this morning? I didn't get to see the live stream, but they are now reporting an 'anomaly' at first stage separation.
w_skierthere was an oops
DrZoidbergTheir lingo is always odd. After it disintegrated he's like well it's clear we've had a, uh, non-nominal flight. I mean I'm sure the guy is totally at a loss for words after something like that happens. At least they don't just cut the broadcast.
Always hate to see these things blow up though. They were all probably so stoked to hit the launch button.
