Need Help with 270s onto rails

need help learning 270s on, they look dope but seem wicked sketchy to try. Always feel like im gonna hit my balls if i dont spin fast enough any advice?

act as if you are doing a 180, and when you are at 180 spot your landing over your shoulder. if it's an urban rail, it helped me to learn by trying to do a 3 over the rail lol

I have been trying them on my blades all summer and just can't seem to get them either. If I get on the rail, I almost always slip out. I hate it. And is this common when learning them on skis?

Go a little bit faster than comfort, allows for more airtime to get the spin in and gets you down the obstacle faster, lessening chance to sack hard. Also when you're popping into it, focus on landing further down the rail not just spinning to get on the closest point.

Yeah same here, i cant do them on blades but have no trouble with 270s on skis. what helped me when learning is trying to jump out towards the end of the rail. The hardest part for me was staying centered and stopping my spin.

Learn it on a fairl low flat box first. You can actually get the spin around off a small lip so start small and work up. You could try first 180 on but I found if you practice 180 on it's pretty hard to then just add 90 more as you are used to the 180 rotation. So instead maybe just try spinning 270 straight away. You will over rotate quite a bit at first but keep practicing and you will learn to stop the rotation. Keep doing it on boxes until it's second nature and then it should actually b pretty easy to take to rails.

The first couple are scary for sure. Just think about spinning a 360 over the rail. keep your stance a little wider so you don't slip out.

When i learned them, I first tried on an urban box in preaseason. I can say that it was a lot easier to hold rotation at 270 if you get a little bit of carve into it, since the more you carve, the closer it is to 180, which is super easy to control.

find a nice big party box and then do it onto that for a while and make sure that you are getting the rotation right before you go to the rail so that you can stay nice and balanced also make sure your 270outs are down and then try it on a rail and you should be good to go!

180, spin the last 90 by snapping your legs around. The most important part for me is really concentrating on landing on the rail over your toes. This helps me lock on as soon as my skis hit the rail.

just be sure that you get your tips up and over the feature. you dont want to set your rotation with a lot of speed strait into the rail.

Just try and turn your shoulders as much as you can before you pop. When your skis leave the ground, they will automatically do a 180, continue spinning and then spot the rail.

Be sure not to spot the rail until you are at 180 though otherwise you will hit your tips/not do the full rotation. Thats what really fucked up my shit when i was learning.

Just try them on boxes and kinda bring your body 90 degrees to the side you are spinning so you already have your spin set, pop, bring around the extra spin. Once you have them on boxes just try them onto low tubes (easier to grip) or a low consequence shorter flat bar.

I ate shit so many times trying to learn them onto rails. I would say go into it like you're doing a 180 than just get that extra 90 around. Once your on the rail stair at the end of it and it will help you slide the rest.

They're not too bad, I actually find them easier on rails than on boxes because it's easier to land on a rail and get a grip on it than it is on a box. On a box I find you just keep spinning around and it's harder to 'scissor' the box for grip.

Here is how I do mine:

1. Come into the rail at a slight angle, it will take a few tries to work out what angle is best. If you come in on too much of an angle you will jump over the rail probably, too little of an angle will result in not landing with the rail under your boots/feet.

2. Pop up, once the top third or so of your skis has left the lip, and bring your knees up with you, as you pop look around and down towards the rail. Try keep your shoulders somewhat level, if you dip them to aggressively you can lose balance and land awkwardly on the rail.

3. Once you have spotted the rail and you are over the top of it bring your legs down and try to get a grip on the rail. I find it's helpful to drop the front skis tip downwards to get a 'scissor' looking grip on the rail.

4. When you have a good grip on the rail make sure you look at the end of the rail like you would normally do, don't keep looking down at your skis.

I know there's already some good advice here so I'll be quick.

Rotate your upper body before you pop. That way when you jump, you only have a 180 to do (your legs will follow your upper body and do the whole 270).This helps 270s from just being out of control hucking onto a rail.
